1989 W250 overcharging

hello i have a 1991 dodge w250 with 5.9L cummins and it says that its over charging i put a new alternator and a battery in, just got a new voltage regulator. what would be causing the truck to over charge. would the alternator cook the voltage regulator if it wasnt working?

i put a new voltage regulator in before the the new battery and alternator. would the alternator cook the voltage regulator if it wasn't working properly

Ive read that there is some alternator shops that can turn them into a self regulating unit

so from changing the alternator and battery and voltage regulator would this solve all of my electrical problems on my 1991 dodge w250
