Attention: TDR Forum Junkies To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.
We bought our 2014 truck at Dave Smith, 100% by email. Of course they won't do that anymore, but at the time I just told the sales rep to give me the price with the exact options and color we wanted and I was going to be comparing it with 2 other dealers. Not pitting one against the other, just...
If you are going to replace the entire engine take a look at a Cummins factory rebuilt. Not sure about the cost but at least you know it's done right. When our engine got replaced they removed the cab from the frame which looked pretty easy if have the right hoist. The mechanic told me it was...
Add an exhaust brake. One of the best things about these Cummins trucks is the exhause brake, esp on down hill grades towing heavy. I added one on previous truck (2003) and of course it's on the 2014 we have now. I wouldn't love towing our 5th wheel without it. Sure you can get by but who...
Pretty cheap tool for the kit. At least you could rule in or rule out the DEF concentration as the problem. Let us know how this turns out. We spend a lot of time in the desert heat and don't put a ton of miles on the truck except when we are on the road with it.
I did a deep dive a while back on bolts and some of these Taiwanese factories are state of the art. McMaster Carr only sells top shelf stuff and I'm sure they send engineers over there to look at the metallurgy and processes. Timken bearings are sourced from all over the world-maybe assembled...
There are lawyers who specialize in representing people who are getting screwed over on warranty stuff. I never sued anyone in my life, but I would over a warranty denial that should obviously be covered.
The Maxcare plan we got yielded the best ROI of any of my investments...and I never buy extended warranties but on these trucks it's probably a good "bet" most of the time. If you don't need it that's great, you still have peace of mind. A couple of repairs will generally pay for it...
Just get an old Kubota. I have a 1978 B7100, super easy to maintain. I mean I change the oil every few years. That thing just never breaks down. I did have to replace glow plugs and of course all the fuel line and filter stuff (housing cracked). Newer B21 (2000) is a little more complicated...
Yeah, could be, will grant you that. But I will stick with my Aisin anyway. I don't really "need" a new truck probably ever at my age. This 2014 should go the duration.
