I have an 2003 SLT 3500 DRW 4X4 with 4:10. Have about 34K miles and getting 17. 5 MPG on highway empty after I installed a retrax cover. I have a 40' travel trailer weighs around 10K that I get 12. 5 MPG.
After tearing everything apart and not finding anything unusual, I broke down and bought a Posi-lok 4X4. I'll get it installed this week. Everything I have read, this should fix my problem for good!
Mine, when you accelerate there is a grinding noise from the front end that sounds like the 4WD is trying to engage when the vehicle is in 2WD. I post as soon as I get a change to tear things apart.
I checked out the switch. Shifting the transfer case between 2WD and 4WD causes the vaccum to switch from the red line to the black line. I think I will tear off the CAD and see if it's dirty or debris has found a way in. Thanks for your help.
