Sorry, been here for 12 hours now installing a new machine to be ready for launching the engine in question tomorrow. I've spent way too much time on this program over the past several years, so it irked me when it's being referred to as a simple update. He has no idea.
Changes this major warrant a 'new' designation. The 2013 engine was what I'd consider an 'update.' Otherwise, we can just call this a bored 'n stroked 5.9L.
I've only driven one vehicle with the rotary shifter (Chrysler Pacifica) but I was not a fan. Same with a recent Mercedes rental which had a column stalk, but it was a center-return thing with up for R, down for D, slight move either direction for N, and press a button in at the end for P...
You're right, I was way off; initial MY2021 production included the sensors, then switched over to no sensors in mid-2021. It looks like CC trucks began receiving sensors sometime Q2 of 2022, but I don't think pickups ever did until MY2023. I edited my earlier comment. Thanks!
The lack of PM sensor was indeed a supply problem after COVID, and there was a specific calibration used on those trucks. Initial 2021 production included sensor but ran out sometime the middle of that year; CC trucks began receiving sensors mid-2022 but pickups didn't until MY2023.

It can't be easy to put together kits for hundreds of thousands of vehicles while continuing to build parts for current production engines...not on a good day even, but especially in today's ****show.
