high idle
Here is a link that explains the TSB high idle feature on the 24 valvers. I have it enabled on mine and love it!! :):)

hard start
Just wanted to say I have had my FASS 150 for over a year now and haven't had any hard start conditions no matter what. It always pumps up to around 15# when I first turn the key on, then drops to zero before I hit the key to start up the engine. Wish I had some answers why so many...
belt??
I had the same sounds on a hot muggy day a week ago... thought a bearing was going south somewhere. After more research I found it to be my belt causing the noise,,, it was louder with the A/C running also. Try a few shots of Armorall on the belt and see if it goes away.
fuel heater
I ran my FASS pump all Winter with out any problems at all. It saw below zero temps with little change in fuel pressure, that's running a 3 micron filter. Not sure if it is my 1/2" suction line in the tank or just luck, I also run Stanadyne Performance Formula year round. I think...
pump swap
If I'm not mistaken with out looking it up in the manuals, doesn't the mechanical lift pump for the prior 24 valve engines produce a much higher fuel pressure??? I know high fuel pressure on the VP44 is about as harmful as low pressure. Just a thought.
posi-tap
Hohn..... which color posi-tap did you use tapping your pump wire?? the only size I could buy around here was black, not sure if it is too big or not??? Thanks and they do look like a quality connector. :)
cleaner
I have been running Stanadyne Performance formula in every tank of fuel on my truck for the last year, no problems with the FASS yet. Hope this helps.
53 block
No not all '98. 5's came with 53 blocks. I have heard of many on here with that year that got lucky, mine included. On mine and the others that I have heard about on here with out a 53 in that year, have no casting number at all where the 53 usually is, instead a row of smaller numbers...
Does anyone have any tricks or easy ways to remove the pitman arm on a '98. 5 4X2? I just tried removing mine and it was hopeless. I have a pitman arm puller, tried that, used penetrate on splines even tried warming up the arm hoping to get it loose, didn't want to get things too hot and melt...
fittings
I used Earl's -6an on all my fuel lines. No problems at all with the fittings or the perform-o-flex SS hose. Top notch!! Thanks for the heads up!!
no fuel
I would have to agree with jwilliams3 on not hurting it too bad by running it dry. I can't believe the pumps would stand it too many times though since it does lube and cool them. Personally I like to keep mine above 1/2 tank or more all the time especially now that summer is here, the...
pumps????
DBartoli, it does sound like a lot of pump replacements. I agree you should seek another mechanic, wether it's at DC or a good diesel shop. Makes me wonder with all the lift pump failures if you might have a restriction in your fuel tank module or fuel lines??? That is another great...
