I sent my edge ez in cause it stopped working and they said its not fixable so they are giving me a new comp box,,,Is there anything i should know about it or does anyone have any advice about,as far as taping the pump wire and what settings to run on,my truck is pretty much stock i have a intake and duall 4 inch exhaust and guages ,,Thanks Guys DONT STROKE IT RAM IT

If you hook the comp up but don't tap the wire, it will run like an EZ.

If you tap the wire and you are still in warranty, your warranty on the motor is gone.

If you tap the wire and have a stock driveline (clutch or auto) then you may need to budget a clutch or converter/VB.

I dont know your mileage or what your looking for but as said, if you don't tap the wire its just like an ez. Personally I think your missing out if you don't tap the wire, it's a whole new truck. I drive normally on 1X1 and bump it to 5X5 if there is someone who needs a lesson. You won't really be needing a new clutch if it's just the comp. If you have injectors and a comp then your talking clutch.

UMMmmm - well, my clutch started slippng after about a year after installing my Comp and tapping the pump - but towing a 5th wheel mighta been part of the cause... :D

Take a look at his profile. He's got a 2001 ETH/6-speed.

Don't use the scotchlock tap that comes with the Comp. There have been MANY cases of wires not really getting tapped, kinda tapped, or (in my case) intermittently tapped.

My new favorite method is the Swenco Posi-tap. It's a toolless, weather resistant, very positive connector that performs the same funciton as the scotchlock (but actually works). Depending on how much time/money you want to spend, soldering or a stealth cover will work well too.

Level 1, tapped or not tapped, is just like the EZ. You may be able to run the higher levels, but the probability of your clutch hangin' on goes down exponentially as the levels go up. And remember, once you smoke it from excess power it will never be the same again.

The decision to tap the wire or not is a funciton of your self control and your clutch budget!

PC12-- I've posted before onthe Posi-taps, and I'm convinced they are the single BEST way to tap the wire. Even better than soldering, as soldering can go awry pretty easily-- the posi-tap is much more convenient.

Hohn..... which color posi-tap did you use tapping your pump wire?? the only size I could buy around here was black, not sure if it is too big or not??? Thanks and they do look like a quality connector. :)
