At the risk of subjecting myself to a bashing, I too, am thinking about trading my '02 3500 CC DRW for a '06 F-350 PSD CC Dually. My current '02 Dodge truck had a bunch of problems when it was new, including being on lift pump #7 right now (@45k,) and performance issues. Yes - performance...
It should be able to be re-flashed by a dealership or by a Cummins service center using the InSight software. Cummins can load whatever profile you want into it. :D
When I was going through my episode with low power and crappy fuel mileage, a diagnostic trip the regional Cummins service center was in order. While in the process of checking out everything, one thing that was tried was to re-flash the ECM with a different profile to see if it was a profile...
Just a little tip - If you want to keep the bottle and keep it in original location (like me,) just cut a sock (preferably NOT one with a hole in the toe,) long enough to go over the bottle and tie-wrap it in place. Prevents the dripping and misting all over the underside and if you use a white...
One thing to check is the rubber seal gasket (o-ring) in the female schrader fitting. I found that after a while, the diesel softens the gasket to the point where it will collapse under pressure and give you a false reading. The gasket (o-ring) isn't compatable with diesel and it dissolves...
To Motorhead and Pit Bull: The gauge WAS ok; it was the lift pump. Had a new one put on and 15# at start, steady 12# running down the road. The service manager said that in the past, he always got the same pump #5080885AA ( the kit), but this time, it didn't supercede to the old number but to...
Yes. If I remember correctly, it was replaced on lift pump #2 or #3. I'll check my paperwork to verify this. It's weird, cause yesterday, on start-up, the pump pressure came up to 12# (once) when I turned the key to "ON", (not running. ) It didn't drop back down. Almost sounds like the...
Count me in... .
I'm at 22. 5k and lift pump #5 is dying! No pressure at start and 1-7# after 2 minute idle and 1-7# while driving (continuously changing. ) I'm past the qualifying point for New York lemon law, I just dread all of the hassle involved with the process. It's a shame; the truck...
From what I have been told, a sharp tech will look at the connection points for a EZ and check for cleaner looking or "handled" connectors. Normally, these connectors have a uniform coating of road dirt and wash, but if you have "touched" and handled the connectors, it will show.
I was wondering if anyone knows if the 48RE automatic out of a 2003 HO will fit in a 2002 or earlier. If so, maybe it would provide another avenue of solutions to the current 47RE weaknesses as the 48RE is supposed to be capable of handling a H. O. with additional features such as 2nd. gear...
I am passing along info from a very good friend of mine regarding towing mileage. Although he runs a big-block Chevy 1-ton SRW pulling a 28' Gold Rush hauler @ 10k# 375 miles each weekend, the same methods apply. First of all, wings. He towed literally for years before installing a old cab wind...
One thing that will tell you if it's gelling or not is to bring the truck into a heated garage for about 1 hour. I had this problem with a previous truck when a snap cold spell caught the local diesel fuel suppliers off-gaurd by not having winterized fuel out yet. The truck died completely (it...
