I am reading the rail pressure with a cheapo scanner, cant remember the brand, but it is the same one that is branded sears craftsman - costing approximately 250-300 bucks. The dealer scanner can tell you demanded pressure vs. actual? I have an acquaintance who is the service manager at a...
My rail pressure is only fluctuating 500 to 1000 psi at cruise rpm could this be causing this running condition? or is it the fact that the rail pressure is just too high (22K) for my injectors?
Hey fellas, either this month or next - in diesel power mag there is a write up on converting a 24 valve (vp44) to a p-pump. I am having all kinds of problems and was contemplating the 12v swap as well. But 24v with p-pump reliability, maybe a pdr cam? Very intriguing
Twest - that sounds like a great idea! Whats the procedure?
The sensor reading as seem as they should be, with the exception of the rail psi being high. I have a new observation as of this morning - 1500 rpm, 20% throtle, 25mph - 20k rail pressure. Sound high to me. Running ok though.
Maybe, I'm gonna check when the next stock order is coming in, the whole rail with the relief valve and sensor wasn't to pricey. In the mean time i am going to try and find a better scanner then the cheapo one I have, maybe it will shed some more light... .
I'll check in the morning, not sure what could be bad - connection wise, because the rail readings are very consistent. Maybe the rail sensor is failing by getting out of calibration?
7600 or so @ 750 rpm and 8400 at high idle about 1000rpm. what would make it run high< i replaced the fca, still have the old one, maybe ill swap it back. I have no power adders o boxes. Truck is stock except for the injectors. I never had a gauge or scanner connected before the injector change...
Sorry for the delay in response... The truck now runs better, not right though. When you get on it - it has tons of power, way better than stock. But when cruising at a set speed on the highway or country road it seem to surge. Sometimes its not so bad - you might think it is an uneven road, but...
Took it back apart and found #5 connector tube only torqued to the first spec. I was in a rush to finish and screwed up - that will teach me. Well, probably not!
I just changed my injectors with the exact same results. Took it all back apart and found one connector tube that I forgot to do the second and final torque on. First is tubes @ 11ft/lbs then injectors @ about 7. 5ft/lbs alternating between the two hold down bolts at 90 degree intervals then...
hope someone can help with this - I had my #3 injector solenoid fail on my 05 ctd. I have 150k (truck is bone stock) on it now and decided to replace them all with DDP 50 horse units. Installed them with no problems, checked valve lash, and it started right up, actually much quicker then i...
Harvey,
I actually did that on my 92 and it was unbearable. The reason I wanted to remove the cat is I suspect it is getting clogged. I have been slowly noticing slower spooling of the turbo, not just from a stop, but when you are moving and really get on it also. alot more smoke that usual...
