Went to the dealer's shop today and looked at the old and the new block. The old was a "53". The new is a "56". So, there is some "53" blocks in the early model '01's. Our manufacture date was 02/00. We appreciate all the input here. Hope this helps anyone else that has an early model '01.
Does anyone have a '01 with cracked block problems? Have an early 2001, 3500 HO with 55k miles. Two weeks ago developed a severe water/antifreeze leak. Is a cracked block-a 4" crack on the passenger side right beneath freeze plugs about #4 & 5 cylinder. Problem is a casting flaw. Cummins is...
