hey guys thanks for the ideas. i went with the westach gauge from geno's and it fits great in the cubby hole. super clean install for only one gauge. the "piggy back" add a fuse was a God send. made install all the easier.

so, using mobil devac 15/40 and fleetguard stratapore filter would be good for 5,000 miles considering 1/2 - 3/4 of those miles are short trips?
curiosity question: what causes the soot to increase with short trips? engine not coming up to temp? and if so, how long at full heated system...
