Thanks so much for the write up and figuring this out. I have a 2007.5 Dodge 6.7 Ram 2500 with a lithium setup on my camper and I've been looking for a way to run a second stand alone alternator with its own regulator to feed the lithium. I think this will work great.
I've got 100,000 miles on my Dynatrac joints and just installed new front end track bar, drag link, control arms and when I had it aligned they said the ball joints were solid still. No need to rebuild yet.
I went to my local diesel shop, not a dealer a month or so ago. He acquired both driver and passenger air bags for less than $75 and the whole thing was completed quickly and inexpensively. I like not going to a dealer. Never had much luck with them.
I mounted something like this to my frame rail and run the stock filter in addition.

Your probably right. I have a flash from 2009 that hasnt been done and I figured they would push that. The igniter exchange looks like an easy deal on both sides however I wouldnt be comfortable doing it without disabling the system and checking for functionality afterwards. Thanks for the input...
