The replacement I used was from Dodge and I think it was a Mopar part #. I had it written down at one time but have misplaced it. I suppose that NAPA has the aftermarket clutch to fit . My truck is parked under shelter from Nov. till April because it is a camper puller only and I don't drive it...
I guess I will just replace the clutch again and save the time and trouble of installing the Flex-a-lite unit. I have had the new fans more than 30 days so I can't return them to XDP so I'll have to find a buyer for them before they collect too much dust in the shop.
Had the radiator flow tested when the first clutch failed and the flow was good. Spent hours cleaning the fins. Inspected the fins again this time to find that we picked up a lot of sand and love bugs. I did a quick cleaning with compressed air before our last trip in Oct. and the temp only...
Good to know. I only use this truck to pull a 7000# camper. The only time the clutch fan fails me is when I am pulling the 6 mile 12% grade from the foothills of NC back to the High Country where I live. Last long trip out in Sept. we towed for 1400 miles and the fan failed to fully engage when...
I have replaced the fan clutch with the OEM replacement from Mopar. The original one stopped engaging fully around 110K. Now the new replacement has stopped engaging fully at 122K. The replacement only lasted 12K. I recently purchased but haven't installed a Flex-a-lite unit from XDP. This is a...
Bought new and installed summer of 2012. Run for 900 miles. Did not work for me in the hilly terrain of NC mountains with my tall gears and auto trans. Removed in July of 2013 and placed back in shipping carton. $1100.00 If interested contact me by email at -- email address removed --
Well, didn't find any boost leaks but I did find that the compressor shaft has about 2mm of side play and I can now see a distinct mark where the blades are touching the houseing. Looks like its Turbo time. Now comes the shopping and decisions as to which one to buy. Going to upgrade to a 2...
We have 3 more trips to go with the camper this season and the puller has developed a high pitched whine that comes in at 20# boost, stays to 30# then goes away when boost drops back to 15#. I recently serviced the truck and spent a whole day trouble shooting to try and locate the source. The...
I built my house in 1983 and installed a wood furnace which has heated the home every winter since. I grew up on a farm and we heated with wood so I don' know any other way. Don't have any idea how much it has saved me in heating cost over the years plus the process of working up fire wood is...
Update. Let a lot of time and miles go by and the click turned into a clunk which I could then tell was coming from under the truck. Rebuilt the double cardan joint and the noise is gone. Thanks for all the advise.
I had a drive line speed click in one of my 98 trucks that only sounded in 4wd with the wheel turned sharply. As time went on the click got louder and sounded even with the wheels straight. The click eventually changed to a clunk and by then I was able to tell that it was coming from under the...
Mine are electric and heated on my Cummins truck which makes them a little pricey but after driving dads 2010 Dodge I am going to upgrade my Cummins and the 98 2500 gasser every day truck which is non power. Thanks for all the good info and links.
