I sure the shop would prefer replacing the panel, alignment is probably much easier. It will also eliminate future headaches.
The previous comment relative to glue/bonding a panel makes a lot of sense for patch, no heat not rust.
Enjoy your truck when it gets done when they replace the panel...
If you guy actually understood how a logistic supply chain works I think you have an appreciation of well the system actually works.
Moving freight economically, safely and accurately is not like going to the market.
Just remember good things are always worth the wait.
