I don't typically smell anything during regen.

I just use the little red plastic thing that came on the truck. It seals pretty well I think.

To see when I'm in active regen, I use Torque Pro. I found a custom pid for Torque that shows me DPF status. When DPF status goes to 100%, active regen starts. My egr closes (0% on my torque gauge), and my exhaust temps go high. It'll continue like this until I shift into park. egr opens up...

I'd not get too complacent. This thing can be delivered like a virus. The attacker doesn't have to "look" for anything (infected devices can do that.) Pretty much can just infect one device and sit back and wait.

I wonder how "bad" the EGR really is, considering that it lowers combustion temperatures. Does lowering combustion temperature equate to longer engine life? IF so, how much does the EGR affect gas mileage in comparison to extending the life of the engine?

I wonder if it wasn't under warranty if you'd be paying for that turbo.

Coming from Fords myself, don't expect the Ram to shift like the Ford did. The Cummins is a different beast.
