Here's my final update to this topic. I took it in for smog and it passed! I did nothing other than driving it around. No reflash. No need for repairs. I worried for nothing. The more I drive this truck the more I like it. I'm keeping this one forever.
I believe the truck needs the K01 recall reflash to ready up the monitors. My truck is not part of the recall so I have to pay for it. The dealers want a lot to do it. Anyone know if the Smarty Jr's stock mode setting is the same as the most current version of what the dealer would install or...
Thanks! I managed to clear all the codes with a scan tool. Before I reset the ECU I tried to get the truck to go through drive cycles to make all 3 monitors go green to ready. So far still only 1 is the ready. If the P0606 doesn't return and the monitors still don't go green soon I will look...
This truck is amazing! Only one problem and apparently it's a common one. The battery was recently disconected so 2 of the 3 monitors are not ready and CA has tough smog requirements. I have a scan tool and I am trying to run drive cycles to bring online. The P0606 ECU code is not helping...
I know it's been a while since I replied to this topic but that's because things got complicated. Everything has now been worked out. The truck was fixed by the seller and I bought it for a great deal considering it's now turnkey. I got it for not much more than the original price but...
No rust. The only issue right now is my friend may change his mind about selling it to me. He got a sticker shock estimate from the dealer but I think the dealer is trying to rip him off. He said I should fix it then sell it to split the profit. I told him if I buy it I'm keeping it so this...
I have a correction. I thought it was a 2007. It is a 2006. It has the 24 valve 5.9. I called my friend to be sure. I'm not a fan of DPF trucks either. Thanks for the warning about those!
A friend is offering to sell me his 2007 Dodge Cummins 4X4 quad cab for what the dealer is offering him in trade. It has an auto trans and the truck has always been properly serviced. The truck looks cosmetically excellent. Truck has 212,000 miles on it. Here's the problem: He was towing and...
Agreed, back in the day when the Cummins was the only direct injection game in town, they called the shots and the dealers laughed at me when I mentioned things like extended cabs. The answer I got was: "Dodge sells every Cummins pickup they make - there's no need for them to change anything. "...
The ammeter has been inoperable as long as I've owned the truck (over 10 years).
This is definitely a no-frills truck. Not even vents for air conditioning.
Thanks for the suggestions! I made a YouTube video to show whats going on with the voltage. I will delete the video in a week or so.
