Thanks!Good luck with your new truck.
Lol, I just noticed that the only place I see the Dodge branding is on the valve cover. Just Ram everywhere else.

Sounds like you did great on this deal. As long as the truck runs strong with everything working like it should, and you and your friend are both happy with the deal, it should be pretty much a 'win win' for both of you - you especially! Good on ya!..Thanks!

Thanks! I managed to clear all the codes with a scan tool. Before I reset the ECU I tried to get the truck to go through drive cycles to make all 3 monitors go green to ready. So far still only 1 is the ready. If the P0606 doesn't return and the monitors still don't go green soon I will look into an ECU reflash. I will also research the Smarty programmer I have read mentioned as part of solving this problem. I really don't have any interest in changing stock parameters but I have read it can reflash the stock programming.Check the Key switch the 3rd gen trucks have a habit of burning up the key switch in steering column and it's electrical plug.
The mis light is greenwhich monitors are not resetting ?
I believe my smog guy(ex-Ram tech) said only 2 or the three must be ready. The mis light is green
The fue light is red
The ccm light is red.
In CA all need to be green. Thanks so much for any help!
I know it's been a while since I replied to this topic but that's because things got complicated. Everything has now been worked out. The truck was fixed by the seller and I bought it for a great deal considering it's now turnkey. I got it for not much more than the original price but possibly less than if I had to have it fixed myself.
It has the 325 hp high output 5.9 and the auto trans has tow/haul mode. The 4WD works perfectly and so does the A/C. Cosmetically the truck is excellent and it has always been run on full synthetic Rotella. I couldn't be happier with how it performs. What a difference from my old 12 valve. No mods needed to get power from this truck and it's got 4 doors which I need for my 200lb Great Dane. My old truck was regular cab and my huge dog was partially laying on me. Now he has his own space.
Thanks for all the great advice everyone! I plan to keep this truck for the long term. I don't want to mess with the DPF and SCR systems in the newer trucks.
The truck was in the process of being traded in to a dealer. That process needed to be reversed so I could buy it.Curiosity... What wound up being fixed to solve the problem?
I believe ordinary OBDII rules apply, so you’re allowed one incomplete. On gassers, this is usually the EVAP monitor.I believe my smog guy(ex-Ram tech) said only 2 or the three must be ready.

That's fantastic! Now the fun begins. Here's my final update to this topic. I took it in for smog and it passed! I did nothing other than driving it around. No reflash. No need for repairs. I worried for nothing. The more I drive this truck the more I like it. I'm keeping this one forever.
