James,
My thermostat just went out. . but has been acting funny all summer... but never got over 190, ever. I first thought it may be my sender unit, but I noticed when going down a few mountain passes this month the engine temp would drop to 120 or lower, and would be at or around 190 going...
Hey guys,
Thanks. I'll be tearing into it tomorrow and will post when running. I've viewed many other threads on the VP44 frailures, but have not found the same set of codes displayed.
Does anybody know if cummins can test the pump with out it in the vehicle?
Anybody know about the...
I've been searching all night, with no luck finding anyone with the exact same problems. I hope you guys can help. :{
Truck died, while under moderate-heavy acceleration going up a small hill outside Conifer on 285 (Edge Comp on 5X5, so smoke was present), but when it died. . it died dead...
Sootgrinder,
My last lift pump lasted from 90k to 140k. I installed a pressure guage at 90 (home made from a bar-LED graph) and when my truck started showing similar symptoms-- I though it was a grounding issue.
Did not make sense that the fuel pressure came back at WOT! Hmm
Most problems...
Oil Seperator.... needed
I also used the Kilby mounting bracket, which worked great! Hopefully with luck, I will be finishing the system this month. I was going to build and mount a steel air tank under the bed... but I am now looking at using Sch40 PVC pipe under the passenger side floor...
Gary,
Nice filter setup.
What is your transfer rate with the pump, and which brand pump did you use?
I was initially going to use your exact setup, but I bought the same solenoid valve and it has been working since. However, I would like to install a mechanical pump for faster transfer...
The cheap-effective route:
Gravity feed using a $20 fuel selector solenoid (Autozone or other). Hit the switch at 1/4 or whenever and slowley watch the gauge climb as you go down the road (3/8" lines can drain 24gal in 2hrs going through a small filter).
I did some research on cheap fuel...
I just ordered one from http://www.suburbanwheelcover.com/ after running around for 3 months without one. They are used and the one I got was in good shape. I also visited Hub Cap Annie, and their price was the same, but I could not order easliy on line from them. Good luck.
Calculating
On your next road trip on the interstate, write your truck OD and the mileage marker down once in route. Later, do again (as long a you dont exit). The farther you go the more accurate the factor.
Your correction factor will = the actual mileage per the mile markers, divided by...
12 V air solenoid
Check out a Grainger catalog. I think they have an on line catalog too. I was just there today (fluid power section) selecting a $20 solenoid for my air horns (Grainger# 6JJ52, Aro). You might have to check to see if the valve will work in a vacume
Good Luck.
Grainger
for 24valvers... The clutch cutoff seems easy to bypass. . if done under the dash. Howbout installing the cutout to the ECM power, or injetion pump power. These line would be harder to trace, as there is no clutch swich to show which wires were tampered with. Just use high quality sealed...
cooper AT
Ive been running cooper AT's for about 20k. 285/75
I am worried that they will Not make the 40k mark.
However-- the tire (soft rubber) is awsome in wet traction, wear, low noise, and off road reisistance at 25psi on rock and sand. A Good tire.
Yokohama may be my next tire if I...
Club VP needed??
Count me in.
It came back. The un-rythmatic miss at idle.
(occuring after the engine is warm. no other performance issues, just That Extremely ANNOYING MISS)
Facts I know to be true on my problem.
Bought truck used(60k) never had problem for 25k.
