All really good points! Especially regarding the 5% rule of thumb - the system won't pay for itself with broken parts.
Again, I run a 12 valve with the AAF setup. Other setups include the liquid draw system and a permanently installed propane tank (probably great for cold weather installs)...
To answer the rest of your question, the propane will run consistently but - if you run one tank setup, the propane tank can freeze up (which they are prone to do). There are two ways to avoid this in summer time: get an automatic switch from an RV dealer, or run a really big propane tank. The...
Sorry for the delay in reply. I was "away on business. "
Boost during towing varies with speed and grade. 60mph cruising with 18K load boost is around 17-21psi (stock turbo) on level ground.
The system I have is from American Alternative Fuels (Gas & Diesel Performance Hybrid Conversions)...
Its a net decrease in $$ per mile - I get more miles per $$!!! ;)
We figured it out - right now Diesel is $3. 75 in my neighborhood. Propane is $16. 00 for a 20# bottle fill.
I get 13 mpg @65mph without propane for 325 miles thats 25gallons = $93. 50
22 mpg @ 65 mph with propane...
Propane Injection
I run propane. I tow a 16K 5th wheel. Some timing advance without propane will help your fuel economy even when loaded.
I like the added power the propane gives. I get significant increased MPG unloaded with propane and a mild increase loaded - but better than without...
no worries!
No need to apologize - I should remember that not everyone speaks "redneck. "
The reason I hopped in to this thread is because I am interested in blending. Back in 2006 up to this spring I made bio-diesel in my garage. We have moved since and I am still looking for alternatives...
HA! Any time I hit 3000 rpm, I get a wedgee from my seat cover. Besides, its my daily driver.
Another question: I had the head milled and they took around . 005 off. The cometic gasket was . 010 thicker than the stock one. That puts my compression lower than stock.
Would this cause a...
Funny you should ask... I went to set the timing to 16. 5* and when I did, I found that the timing was already advanced to 16* (I bought the truck used) so I just left it alone. Didn't seem worth all the trouble for a half of a degree...
I think I got some fuel pump info from JVaughn when I...
Didn't expect any "gum" in the WVO. I have seen pictures of injection pumps with "gummed up" parts due to the glycerin which is present in the vegetable oil. Please forgive my Texas vernacular. Where I come from "gum" can be used for more than derivatives of the gum acacia.
In any regard...
Well...
Well, anyone gum up their fuel system or injectors?
It looks like costco is selling their oil for $6. 60 per gallon now.
Any blenders still blending with wvo?
So what can we expect from a home-made H2 generator?
Can we expect the same % of mpg gain as from propane?
I get 19-22 mpg with propane injection @65 mph unloaded.
I get 12-14 mpg without propane inj on @65 mph unloaded.
I haven't done the numbers yet, but one 20# propane bottle...
1995, 244000mi, top-end rebuild at 219K:
I had the seep above thermostat so I went ahead and pulled the head. My cousin owns a machine shop and he rebuilt the head (only minor stuff): machined 0. 007, new valves, 60# valve springs, cometic head gasket, 12mm ARP studs etc.
I run a #6 plate (came with an adjustable waste gate elbow) and I started with a 175 pump and injectors.
I put the Bosch 285 RV injectors in first and that worked real nice (not 300 hp)
Then I smoked the stock clutch and went with a 450hp clutch/machined flywheel.
When I added the 3k...
I had to rebuild the power steering unit and replace the seal on the pump. Its not a hard job, but I had to go to a bearing company in order to get the pump seal. I wish I had the measurements still, but if you pull the pump off the vacuum pump and get the seal out, you can take that seal if its...
