I have always had 12valves, but the supply of 98 quad cab 12v's is low, at least on my budget. So this time I am looking at 2nd gen 24v's. You guys have scared the crap out of me about buying a 24v. I have read all the posts.
I know not to buy a 53 block. If the lift pump and the vp44 are good...
Thanks for the tip, Howard. BD says it is one they used to sell before they started making their own. He says it is a TCS convertor. Never heard of them,
anybody got any input?
Thanks, Al
Hello all,
I have a torque convertor that came out of my last truck, a 98 12 valve 3500. I rebuilt it when I first got it with all DTT stuff. I did'nt know it had an aftermarket convertor and valve body in it. The convertor is black and has the following numbers stamped around the face toward...
A follow up to my post. When the pump guy at Cummins installed my 3KGSK springs, he said it would run past 3800 on the bench and not stop. So he would not leave them in, took them backout and said he could change the pump internally to give me 3000 rpm. I have not tested it to that RPM yet.
I'll try a different question since I didn't get a lot of answers on my first post.
If internal calibration modifications can raise power, increase boost, and increase RPM's, why would we buy aftermarket parts to do the same thing?
I took a TST#8 plate, AFC spring kit and 3GSK spring kit to...
A question for the pump experts. I took my truck to Southeast Power here in Daytona for oil change, valve adj etc. I decided to let them install my cam plate, afc spring and 3gsk kit. They did'nt want to install the gsk on the truck, so I agreed to have the pump removed and bench recalibrated...
If you have the time shop for a 9812v quad cab. They are hard to find, but the rear doors and new dash design are nice. Also they made some upgrades for the arrival of the 24v such as fuel lines and fuel filters. I have a 98 12v 2500 2wd quad cab long bed sport
with a 5 spd. I don't like the 5...
Thanks to all who replied to this post, but I think I will just live with the 5spd for now. After laying on my back in the garage looking at it I decided I'm getting too old for that stuff!
Thanks again.
I have a 98 12v 5spd I just bought, I love everything about the truck except the 5 spd. I am thinking maybe of converting to an auto. A couple of guys have them in the classifieds. One is a 94 which should be a 47rh. Does this trans require any electronics
at all or is it all mechanical? Would...
First post on the 24v side, I am a 12v man. After looking for a long time for a 98 12v, I bought a 2500 5 spd. Wrong choice, the 2500 does not have the capacity for any size 5th wheel and I am sick of the 5spd already. However, you guys have me scared to death about the problems with the pumps...
Has anyone replaced their steering shaft with a new one from dodge? I bought one but is is different and my dealer can't tell me why. The new one has a rag joint that the old one did not. I you figure the rag joint to go toward the strg box the ends are backward. The ends appear correct if you...
DOES ANYONE HAVE A SPRING CHART WITH NUMBERS, WEIGHTS,
AND HEIGHTS FOR THE 2WD TRUCKS? I HAVE A 96 3500 AUTO AND MIGHT REPLACE THE FRONT COILS WHEN I REBUILD THE FRT END. I FOUND A THREAD WITH A NICE CHART, BUT IT WAS 4WD ONLY.
Is anyone using a transfer tank rather than a certifed auxiliary tank? Have you ever been stopped or hassled about it? The transfer tanks are about half the price of the regular aux tanks and for the limited use i need it for i would like to save some money. The one I am looking at says DOT...
FIRST TIME POST I WANT TO REPLACE MY TANK WITH AN OVERSIZE. I WANTED A TRANSFER FLOW BUT THEY TELL ME IT HANGS TOO LOW FOR MY 2WD 3500. AERO TANKS SAYS THEIRS
ONLY HANGS 1 INCH BELOW THE FRAME. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT AEROTANKS? I KNOW THEY DRILL THE FRAME TO INSTALL, IS...
