Howdy

Now I'm a 1st gen. owner of a 93 CTD but I'm fixing to sell it. I like it and all but I want a 94-up CTD and want the club or quad cab with the actual full back seat, perfer a 2wd instead of a 4wd like mine is cause in Alabama I'm never going to use 4wd anyways,so why pay the extra $$ for insurance. I'd also prefer a 3/4 ton and not a 1 ton cause I don't really want a dually, cost more for insurance and just about everything else. I found a 97 3/4 ton club cab LWB 2wd Cummins truck that I really like. The truck has a little over 200k on the clock but it's all road miles. It's a sharp looking truck and all but I have one big nag with it. I don't like the auto OD in my 93 and I don't like it in this 97 either. I'm wanting to make one pump out the power pretty good for hauling our trailer etc etc. So I got to looking and I knew right off the bat I didn't really like the auto OD trans and knew they would kill over under all the torque I plan on building out of this truck. I can NOT find a 94 up CTD around here with a 5 speed anywhere within my price range, except this 97 with the auto. Now I could probably live with a auto if it wasn't gutless and wouldn't blow up from the power/torque.

I thought seriously about buying the 97,cause I can get it worth the $$ then put a 5 speed in it. How hard would this be and appox. how much $$ would we be talking? I've heard that a built auto for these trucks are VERY expensive so would I be better to just buy a NV4500 or build a auto? How much time, money etc would we be talking out of each application? Meaning either sticking a NV4500 in it or having a built auto put in it. Thanks

My built up transmission from Blumenthals ran about $3700-$3800. The truck was down for about a week and a half since the trans had to be shipped to them then rebuilt and sent back. But if you get lucky and they have one in stock already built 3-5 days is all it should be down.

im looking into that myself. i found that the cost would be about the same. the dtt trans im looking into will cost about $5000 with labor and the manual trans will cost about $5000 with labor for the conversion and a clutch.

If you have the time shop for a 9812v quad cab. They are hard to find, but the rear doors and new dash design are nice. Also they made some upgrades for the arrival of the 24v such as fuel lines and fuel filters. I have a 98 12v 2500 2wd quad cab long bed sport

with a 5 spd. I don't like the 5 spd, so I am going to sell it . PM me

if you are interested and I will give you the details.
