6 speed auto verses 6 speed manual

I switched from a 2001 HO with a NV5600 6 speed manual to a 2007. 5 6. 7 with the 68RFE and won't look back. While the manual was great, the constant shifting got to me. The new 6 speed auto and integrated exhaust brake was designed to work with the cummins like it was supposed to. I hardly ever...

Thanks for the input, Guys. I guess a picture IS worth a thousand words. I will take a closer look and get a needle greaser.

    Considering 6.7 w/ 68RFE vs G56

Auto! I...

    Front axle shaft u-joint lube?

Have any of you lubed the front axle prop shaft as mentioned in the owner's manual? I can't see a fitting. Is there a special gizmo to grease it with?

    Extended warranty

Thanks for the input guys. I have never been much of a fan of extended warranties, but the turbo replacement rattled me a little. It's true that the 5/100 coverage will take care of future turbo service and I appreciate the reminder. I think I will sit tight. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Extended warranty

:confused:My truck just received a new turbo under warranty. This has me thinking I may want to look into an extended warranty. I need some advice on what some of you have had good luck with and what you think I should consider.

    New Turbo at 9400 miles!

I ended up with a P2262 engine code after pulling my tractor a little over 100 miles, and restarting to leave for home after dropping it off. Big-O Dodge in Greenville, SC, that I am very satisfied with, replaced the turbo. There was nothing mentioned about cleaning it, but they replaced it...

    Which oil drain plug?

Thanks for all the great feedback guys. One more question for the "Finger Touch" users: is there any danger of anything snagging the lever accidently when off road?

    Which oil drain plug?

I need to install a new oil drain plug to control the flow when I change the oil. The stock plug seems to let all the oil out at one time... messy. Genos has two drain plug/valves available that would seem to do the job. One is the "Easy Change" and the other is the "Finger Touch". For those of...

    Receiver loose!!!

You may already know this and have done it, but for those of us that may not be aware, if hitch bolts are found to be loose, they should be replaced. These bolts must be fully tensioned (torqued to spec) to create high a clamping force and avoid fatigue failure. Loose bolts are exposed to an...

    I'm Driving a Honda Accord !

Average your mpg... You can average over 30 mpg and still keep your CTD, I do. Get a VW TDI and average it to the truck, HA. Over 50 mpg on the highway!

At what point will the $$$ of Diesel Fuel really

Hang on... the diesel cars will come. We got a 2006 VW Jetta TDI last year and are tickled with the 50+ mpg hwy. I think these cars are the most overlooked on the mileage scene.

Bedliner, spray in vs drop in?

I have had all three: Drop-in, Rhino and Line-X and they got better each time. Line-X looks and wears better. One word of caution... they may claim to get it 1/8" to 3/16" on the bed. Don't believe it. I cut a 4" hole in mine for a B&W hitch and found it to be only 1/16" thick. This material is...

    This sucks

Any clues what broke? Many spring mounts I have seen do not seem stout enough. They look too long and slender. My last 5th wheel had a recall on just that. They had to weld in gussets.

    Third Generation Hitch Capacity?

In my opinion, the factory should mount a hitch good for at least 10k and 2k tounge without use of a distributing system. Everyone does it anyway. I have never seen anyone use weight distribution except for campers to keep the butt off the ground for light vehicles.
