one other thing came to mind. If I don't aske questions regarding things I'm not clear on how am I to get "a better understanding" of the engine? I thought that was one of the main reasons for there being a TDR website?

kenny61, no but its garaged (unheated). It'll start ok if I gently let up on the pedal and let it idle. however the idle seems low. When I back out and stop it will stall two or three times when I brake unlessw I slip it into neutal before stopping. All I want to do is check the idle! How hard...
cojhl2, No offense taken! Its just that it seems like adjusting the idle is simple enough and no need to take things apart. I'm not totally incompetant but wouldn't mess with things that seem to involved. I've never had an issue adjusting the idle or timing on a gasser with a tach/dwell meter.

'96 CTD, 4X4, 140K. PrimeLoc. Changed the fuel filter and the WIF light now is on. Drained the filter, still on. DISCONNECTED the WIF sensor, still on! what gives? other than a little piece of electrical tape over the light, any suggestions?

Hi, Kind of a basic question I realize but I'm not the swiftest when it comes to things mechanical. :confused:I'm trying to adjust my idle with a regular old dwell/tachometer. Asides from the obvious ground cable where do I hook up the positive lead? Its a '96CTD, 4X4, 140K.
