PModem, I apologize first cause I'm sure to ofend you, but I dont't know how else to say it. .



Based on yor questions i would be very reluctant to screw with that engine until I had a better understanding of it.



Again I dont mean to sharpshoot, I'm just trying to be sensible.
one other thing came to mind. If I don't aske questions regarding things I'm not clear on how am I to get "a better understanding" of the engine? I thought that was one of the main reasons for there being a TDR website?

Oh,, you're absolutely right. My post was not about the question, but about being careful about messing with the engine.
 
For the idle adjustment you can use the factory tach, I've been adjust idle on vehicles by ear for the last 25 years. If you have a manual trans adjust it to anything that keeps it smooth. for an automatic dont make it so high that it bangs/lurches when you put it in gear. Just dont try to adjust it for a really cold engine. Make sure the engine is at operating temp when you adjust it
