I just removed the fuel heater... We'll see if that fixes the problem. The truck did fire up right afterwards and 15 mins later fired right up again. I did notice the rubber cover over the primer button is cracked and about to fall off... Joe, is this something I should be concerned about?
Sorry bout the no sig... It never occurred to me it could help diagnose a problem. Always saw the sig as more of a spot to brag about what I had... . Fixed now.
The truck is not a CA model... . Found the prefilter assembly... Never knew it was there to be honest. Kinda difficult to see past the shutoff solenoid and the fuel filter. This morning I pushed the primer button a few times and it fired up. So it's losing it's prime... Just have to figure out...
BTW my truck makes no black smoke whatsoever even under a hard load... I wonder if the air leak is why... It does however get killer fuel mileage : ) If an air leak is the culprit, should I expect the truck to have more power once fixed?
Hey thx Joe... I am trying to determine where that prefilter is in relation to the inj pump and filter canister???? I don't think I've ever seen it. I have suspected an air leak for sometime and after reading your article I probably shouldn't have replaced the filter till I found the leak. Thx...
It is a 97 Joe... I find it odd that this came about after a filter swap. I'm going to drop the filter again tomorrow and check it out. I have never filled the canister with fuel after a filter swap... . If it is an air leak, would changing the filter manifest the problem? The canister is full...
Guys, after doing a search I still need some help. Seems as if I remember a member having this same problem some time back but can't find the post. I've been having a somewhat hard start issue with my truck usually after it sits for some time. I assume I may need to look into the lines, but I...
Thx for the replies... I actually just priced that same Magnaflow 409 system. . A friend owns an exhaust shop and can get it for me for 330 bux. He also has a used Aeroturbine on the shelf. I'm thinking about picking up the Magnaflow system and running the Aeroturbine ahead of the Magnaflow...
So which exhaust have you all tried that had the least drone. The stock muffler on my 97' is rattling and need a whole exhaust. Was thinking along the lines of a Magnaflow turbo back system. . Thx
Yea I hear ya. . I'm on my fourth Cummins in 6 years. This one is nice and tight like my first one. Going to try to leave it alone, although I may have to stick an exhaust system on it. Really didn't want to splurge for the converter now... My first truck ended up getting a nice Suncoast...
Ok guys... Just picked up a 97' 3/4 4x4 with a brand new Dodge transmission, converter, and lines. This truck is bone stock down to the airbox and don't plan on adding much if any power to it. May stick an exhaust, filter box, and a small plate on it over the next few months. Question is: What...
Thx for the info. . Games, I have all the paperwork. , thx for the offer. It came with the truck. I think I scored a pretty good deal on this thing. It was traded into Sexton Dodge in Knoxville, TN. This is the fourth one I've had in 6 years : ) Just can't get away from these 12 valves... The...
Thx for the replies guys... Bob that is what I was concerned about. . Wear on the torque converter/transmission with the use of this brake. Is it useable or not? BTW the brake does work... I fired it up with the cab switch hot and pushed in on the microswitch. The brake opens and closes as it...
