I too am considering fabricating my own wheel to almost wheel. I will stop step @ 2' past cab. This will be good support over a shorter distance and not have to mount to bed.

All in all I was dissapointed. Hoping for 19 mpg all around driving. But it is what it is and I like my truck. All stock, my first diesel and wow excellent power:)
I have problems with my brakes dragging. Right rear got steaming hot twice. Did the lubricating pin thing twice and still have problems. Bought new tires and could only turn 1 hub.
I am going to replace calipers.
My truck same way... easy on the move, HARD at a complete stop. My truck though has always demanded complete attention when being driven. Could caster play into this?
