Sorry it took so long to post this picture. Since I'm retired, it seems the days are a whole lot shorter than they used to be and I have way more things to do.
The hose on the left of the filter housing is from the discharge of the pre-filter and the one on the right goes to the stock lift...
Over 10 years ago I installed a Racor fuel/water separator on the firewall just to the side of the master cylinder. I removed the short hose from the prefilter to the lift pump and ran a fuel line from the prefilter to the Racor, then from the Racor to the lift pump. The Racor is on the suction...
Did the trick for me. It's been about a year now and 15K miles since mine exhibited similar symptoms. Only problem I had was getting the socket on the old sender. I had to grind the hex portion of the top outside edge of the socket to get it to fit.
My good old 96 has been getting a yearly oil change for the last nine years. I currently have over 230K miles on it. I average anywhere from 15K to 20+K miles on it every year. I also run Amsoil 15-40 Heavy Duty Diesel and Marine oil, the Fleetguard Stratapore filter and the Amsoil 110 bypass...
I read on an earlier post about someone fixing a broken knob by slipping either poly tubing or copper tubing over the broken base after super gluing it. Another project to add to the ever growing list of "To Do" items.....

Instead of drilling the tube, I used one of the swivel connections from Amsoil and drilled the filler cap and installed the return line there. Works pretty good.
That's what I do and it's worked pretty good for a number of years except the first round I bought the 16 oz bottles and now just buy a case of the 1/2 gallon jugs... ...
Have you ever thought of producing a video of the procedure? I'm sure if the price is right, you could sell a bunch. Lots of cracked dashes out there, mine included!!!!!!!!
I put on a set of Michelin LT245/75R16 LTX M/S back in 2002 and so far have over 112,000 miles on them. The tires still have around half of the tread left. They aren't a good mud tire but if most of your driving in on the highway, they're pretty good.
If you bought the "Red Tops", no need to relocate them. With my red tops and now my yellow tops, never had any spill or corrosion of the terminals or surrounding area. It's so nice to work around them without having to worry about battery acid eating holes in your clothes and your arms!
From some of the horror stories I've been reading lately, they say we may look back at the $5. 00/gal prices of today and call them the "Good Old Days"! They're talking $10-15/gal... ... ...
