Attention: TDR Forum Junkies To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.
Ed, the diesel owners' manual for all three of the Dodge diesels I've owned, including my current 2010, have stated it is ok to use biodiesel only up to a 5% blend. The military vehicles may have a different type of fuel lines on them. The fuel lines on our trucks are probably purchased and...
Cummins does not recommend using biodiesel above a 5% blend. It is my understanding that a higher blend is not recommended because it could deteriorate the fuel lines which would be a problem for the fuel system (injectors). I have to buy biodiesel sometimes when traveling with our 5th-wheel...
Have you checked your fuel filter? If your filter is clogged, your truck may temporarily be starved for fuel causing it to die, then after sitting for awhile enough fuel gets through the filter making it possible to start the truck.
CarQuest sells a tool for removing filters that makes it an easy job even on first oil changes. Its made of steel and you use it with a ratchet and an extension. The tighter the filter the more it grips. I have never had it to slip. If I can get a picture or part number I will post it.
I bought one with the cone shaped tip from Car Quest and it works great. Before I bought the cone shaped tip, I bought the needle type from NAPA. It was so small and sharp I accidentally stuck it in my finger but could not to get it to go into the hole to grease the truck.
Rusty, I also own a Mobile Suite but it sounds like you tow more than I do. During the past year we have not been able to use our camper much. Hope to be able to use it more in the future. Thanks for your comments.
Rusty, I fully agree with your comments but I was really surprised when I found out that that I had 7. 4% fuel dilution at my last oil change. The first time I had the oil analyzed I had 3% fuel dilution. I was not happy there was 3% dilution but thought it was probably normal and nothing to...
Newt, I always change my own oil and the oil level is always on the full mark when I refill the crankcase with 12 quarts of oil. However, the oil level starts to grow after I start putting miles on the new oil. I always get the engine up to operating temperature before changing the oil to make...
Thanks JHumphries, that was a helpful link. Based on comments made in the referenced thread we could have excessive idle time even if our trucks are not allowed to sit idling. The thread does not make it clear how idling is calculated but it sounds like any time the engine is running and...
Gary, your experience has been very similar to mine which leads me to think it is probably fairly normal. However, if it is normal it surprises me that more people are not talking about it on these these forums. Before buying my truck, most of the comments I read indicated that most of the bugs...
