From the EPA "OBD Testability Readiness Issues" publication dated 5/2011;
It states in part for MY 04-05 5.9 diesels the problem is, "Comprehensive component monitor status may not set to ready". Then it states for action, "TSB#18-030-10 with lifetime warranty".
What does "TSB#18-030-10 with...
My 05 is stock except for the exhaust brake addition. I pull a 17K# trailer up and over the mountains east of San Diego with grades upto 6%. A couple of years ago I put a cheap 3 in 1 gauge to for transmission temps. I think the EGT gauge is fairly accurate as it shows 2-300 degrees at idle and 5-800...
On a long grade that I pull my 15K 5er a dozen times a year, mine will drop into 2nd at closer to 40 mph. TC unlocks at that point and I used to cross my fingers when I didn't have a temp gauge because I would keep the rpms up (like 2800) to only reach 35 mph. I know the oil had to get hot but...
X3 on this - I had a tick for the last couple of weeks and from the inside sounded like it was an exhaust leak but on the Drivers side :confused:
looked last night and found it hard to believe it was a loose clamp on the #5 line. :rolleyes:
My stock exhaust manifold apparently wanted to move some and snapped a bolt. I tow around 15K on some long 6% grades and usually see my EGT's on my uncalibrated guage hit 1500. Probably pulled this way 50 times, am I pushing this thing to hard? All stock except for EB.
Looking at a 2 or 3...
I have a Banks EB on my stock 2005 2500 4x4 Auto. My kit has 2 toggle switches, one turns the EB on or off, the other is a 4th gear lock out switch. I'm towing about 15K and on a 6% grade for several miles (that usually has a tailwind) I touch the trailer brakes maybe once or twice, to keep it...
On a 6%+ grade, towing 14K, when dropping below 40mph... . let the TC slip like crazy or manually shift it into 2nd to lock it up? With engine rpm's around 2800, will it hammer all the 2nd stuff too much with the TC locked up?
Thanks for any input:o
I can't thank you enough cerberusiam for sharing, what I feel, is very good and easy to understand information, with inexperienced diesel and auto transmission people like me. I don't have any gauges, but the first reason for joining this site was to gain info on installing a transmission oil temp gauge...
Not to highjack your thread Jim, but I have been wanting to know the same thing. I pull my 17K GVWR trailer regularly at around 14K+ lbs and have one hard pull on our regular camping trips. The wind is usually against us and the truck just won't pull 3rd up a grade out of the desert. When it...
I'm in awesome California also and had to smog mine for the first time in 3/2011. Guy told me it would be done in half hour. I came back an hour later to find the hood up and it still idling in the shop, tech straching his head looking at a book. I asked him, "Exactly what are you checking for"...
