If the relief valve opens 1 time will it reseat? Is this a 1 time saftey valve or does it wear down over repeated openings?

I have replaced mine (though it is a single piece drive shaft) with a spicer unit. A die grinder on the inside of the housing will allieviate the clearance issue and allow you to install a spicer unit. I have over 100,000 miles on the spicer. :)
