Great, I'm glad this sounds like a fluid type problem not a mechanical issue. I'll get the mystery goo out of there and replace with some better stuff.
Thanks
Hey guys,
I'm having a heck of a time getting into first and second gear for the first 15 minutes or so in the morning. It's not cold where I am, high 30's at the worst. I have to force it into gear or let the clutch out a little to get it into gear. After everything gets warmed up it shifts...
Aaron A,
Thanks a bunch for that link. I think I understand whats going on now. I was having a hard time wrapping my head around what was going on in the tank. I didn't know there was anything in there but a simple fuel pickup.
Thanks!
SH
Fuel tank module? Sorry, I'm not sure what that is. If you are referring to the in tank pump setup. I never had one, my pusher was still mounted up front. This is a common problem?
So what would fix this cheaply? I'm sick of throwing money at my fuel system.
Thanks,
SH
After installing the GFS pump kit I have been having trouble with hard starts when my fuel gets down below a 1/4 tank. I've never had a problem before and didn't touch the plumbing back there at all. It's wierd, I can go put a couple gallons in and voila all is good again. What's the deal?
SH
Thanks, I didn't know that. I figured they all needed taped.
I read your thread. Did you get your problems sorted out? I've noticed that there are alot of guys having similar issues as us.
Update.....
I tried disableing the pump and it didn't help the situation. So I figured I must have an air leak somewhere. Also read in another thread that teflon tape is not diesel resistant and that is what I used when I put the gauges on.
I took everything apart and used Rectorseal #5...
Shortshift,
I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I had heard of this before but, I was thinking it more of a lack of fuel issue or air in the system, rather than too much pressure. At this point in the game I'm up for anything! I just wonder why there is no singular "sure thing" fix for...
I've been following the other threads relating to hard starts after installing the GDP Walbro pump. I am in the same boat and I would like to know if anybody has found a solution for the problem.
I lost the original VP44 about two months ago and replaced it with a remanufactured pump from...
Hey, I just recently joined the TDR (first post actually) and am looking for a good diesel shop in the San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles area. My truck is totaly stock with 150k on it and it's due for a engine checkup and maybe a few upgrades. I've had the truck for about a year now and it runs...
