How old are the joints? The seal is just an oring so that's not a big deal. I had some of the first run uppers and they started letting grease by and after around 60k were wore out. The new replacement set has near that and are still very tight and will only take 1-2 pumps every oil change.
I just did a full flush on my truck , It took right at 4 gallons total and that is with block and radiator totally drained. Theres 2 drains on pass side at the bottom of where block holds coolant so you can get it all drained out . It takes a 8mm allen key to loosen.

After i replaced my h/c the brake switch bracket got tweaked a little and had the lights on constantly , tweaked it back and all is well! Follow the pedal up to mount and you will find it.
