I had some transmission work done around 700 miles as reverse went out. I now have 42,000 miles and I just seemed to notice the ticking in the last couple thousand. Sounds like it might be time for a tip to the dealer and take them for a ride.
I assume you mean flexplate since its an auto, but regardless wouldn't that make a sound all the time since that would be spining with the crank? The ticking only happens when the TC is locked.
I notice that when my torque converter on my 04. 5 is locked it makes a ticking sound. It can't be heard while under acceleration, but is quite noticeable when off the gas and say getting off the freeway. As I am coasting along the offramp there is a ticking noise and as the truck slows down...
I wasn't planning on having this recall done. I went into the dealer with my 04. 5 for getting the door seals replaced, high idle enabled, cup holder fixed and a transmission service. I told them twice I didn't want this recall done. The guy writing it up said no problem. I went to pick up the truck...
I am not sure if this guy was telling the truth or not, but when my reverse in the transmission in this truck went out at 700 miles, I was talking to the service writer about it. He had mentioned that that he had worked in the transmission industry the prior 17 years. He said for the most part a transmission...
With 3000 miles on my truck I just completed a 600 mile road trip with about 80% freeway driving at 70 mph. My had calculated milage for that tank was 19. 4 mpg.
Mine does the same exact thing. It never did it until they had to drop the transmission to replace reverse. Actually when I first picked it up it did it all the time at idle. The Tech came out to look at it and found it to be the transmission dipstick vibrating against the A/C condensor lines. He pulled it...
After reading the previous posts thats what is sounds like to me also. Until some who hand calculates mileage pipes up about an increase I am skeptical to believe the overhead computer.
I talked to the dealer on Saturday and he mentioned that it was some kind of drum that controls reverse that failed. He said the rest of the transmission is in great shape. Guess I get to keep this transmission once they replace that drum along with the valve body and torque convertor. Guess time will tell...
LOL... . I just had a neighbor recommend them to me yesterday. He said they were off Watt? But that was the name for sure. Sounds like I might give the Ultra Liner place serious consideration though. A guy in my 4x4 club had 3 trucks done by them last year and they were about $200 cheaper than...
You are like the 5th differrent person to recommend them to me. When my truck gets back from the dealer getting the new transmission put in I will have to stop by and talk to them.
Well i took it in to the dealer today. The service agent I had had only been on the job 4 days, but has spent the last 20 years in the transmission business. He mentioned the reverse was usually the first to go since it is usually under higher pressure and the rest will usually follow later on...
Well I checked the fluid and its right where it should be. Though it smells burnt. I will be at the dealers doorstep tomorrow at 7am. This really pisses me off that a truck with 650 miles already has transmission problems.
