Lookin at addin 12 more valves ;)

Corey look around at price, options and model year. I would prefer the 6 speed. We tow a horse trailer and we like the 6 speed. We can hold the rpm better than with a 5 speed. We replaced our track bar at 30000 miles. The Truck did not track straight. I fixed the puke bottle on day 2 of...

    2001 2500 quadcab

We have a 2001 quad cab TDR 4x4, 6 speed. It is the wife's truck. You have many web sites available to check and compare prices. ie. Kelly Blue Book for used, dealers for new--Melton and others. We bought our 2001 with 20,000 miles, production date June 2000. At one year old we paid more than...

    4X4 Fuel Mileage

Winter fuel #1, and four wheel drive we are now down to a calcualated 13 mpg. Summer fuel and two wheel drive we have gotten a calculated 18 mpg. There are no "freeways". Winds, fuel quality, and driving habits change the mpg the most. Weather is a real factor in how you drive the CTD. 6 speed...

Plugges up truck for first time this a.m....and it didn't work...

Be sure to check that you have not kicked a circuit breaker. I have had cords go bad, plugs short from water and bad cords on freeze plugs. I like redundancy, and an oil pan heater is a good idea. Check all connections and watch for rubs on the cord.

    Bombed my Heater Grid Plug!

Intermatic makes a timer that is heavy duty. this is a gray box with an easily adjustable dial. I can set the start and stop time based on the outside temperature. I permanently mounted my timer to the inside garage wall out of the weather and set up with a cord and female plug. This way I can...

    almost new what to do?

Thanks for the good suggestions. I have ordered the filter special. I changed the engine oil, and checked fluid levels. I will definately change out the rear differential. I like the idea of the synthetics. Next is the fuel filter. And while the wife is not looking I can start on the good stuff...

    almost new what to do?

We just brought home a new (for us) 2001 manufactured June of 2000, quad cab, CTD, ETH, DEE. I ordered new filters, and will install upon arrival. We checked and topped all fluids. I cleaned up the leaking bottle. This is a 4x4 with 23,000 miles. My question is what else should I look at and...

    Dealer 4x4 rear leveling kit - $600 ???

I checked Dodge locally for the kit. I was quoted $720. Then there is the $ to install. You must also remove the camper springs. I certainly understand the reason to lower the truck. I am pulling the goose neck horse trailer up slope, and there is no clearance on the right bump or rise.

Adding 30 wieght Non-Detergent oil to full tank of fuel????

I prefere Stanadyne as an additive for the diesel. My older 6. 2 GM handles marvel mystery just fine, but I use the Stanadyne in the ISB. You want to add lubricity to dry diesel fuel. Our #1 Arctic diesel fuel is very dry and hard on pumps. Know your fuel and stick to a quality diesel additive.

    transmission downshift correct

When coming to a stop the transmission acts like it downshifting at less than five miles an hour. This adds additional torque to the wheels and it disconcerting on ice. If I shift to neutral I do not get this feeling. Same thing happens with or with out OD. Not only do I feel like I am on the...

    2WD Or 4WD?

I vote for the 4x4. Mud, snow and ice combined with poor road seem to be the Alaska standard. It is impossible (almost) to find a 4x2 in this part of the world. The truck needs to pull the trailer and I pay the expense to have the extra drive wheels, differential, and transfer case available for...

    Traveling to Canada

Carry no weapons or ammo. And no bear spray. As a CCW holder I am grilled about weapons. You can bet the Canandian computer knows if you have a CCW. If you are going to take a weapon into Canada for hunting the Canadians have a new fee structure. Diesel is plentiful, measurements are in the...
