Well, there are a ton of people out there with this same exact complaint. From older to brand new trucks. You are correct in guessing it’s not right, probably off the game if you mean not purposeful.

Mine 2012 2500 does a similar thing and won’t kick down. My recent trip I had to keep kicking it out of 5th to keep it from lugging down below 1500rpm while pulling a pontoon up a hill. I did some research and saw a lot of complaints about similar things. I think it’s terrible shift logic.

I’m not jumping to that conclusion yet. I was just curious. Nothing jumps out at me as to what the issue could be besides my last oil sample would have had tons of cold weather and idling on it. The truck doesn’t lack any power and hauls easily.

There is phenomenal information here. Thank you for giving me some things to look at. If I do come to a conclusion it’s an injector. What replacements are recommended?

I’ve got about 3k on my current oil. Should I drain it and check it and see what it is? I was told that during the winter it isn’t uncommon to see a higher % because of the long idle and freezing temps. I’ve got more 6600 hours on my truck if you needed an exacter idea

Sorry for being so late to reply. My last oil change only showed 4% dilution after 3k. From what I’ve found I’ll run with that. I’ve not noticed any notable gains on my dipstick so far this summer. So everything is good with that. As far as hours the truck has 6k or something I’ll have to...

It made probably just over a quart. I’ve got my sample collected to send out. I’ll try to remember to update when I get information back.

My emissions equipment has 199k miles on it. If it fails or not it doesn’t matter. It’ll need replaced anyway. It’s all put aside until I figure out my oil situation. Thanks for the response though.

I haven't got a sample of the oil sent out. I'm going to try and change it this weekend, or next at the latest. I'll send some off to blackstone. Working with the theory it is high what are some steps to diagnose the problem?

After I changed the oil when I picked it up. It went from just below 1/2 on the safe zone on the dip stick to at the max line of the dipstick
