    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Have been driving the truck with a monitor on, (Alpha OBD), to see what everything is doing. Admittedly I am not sure what is in or out of range just looking for things that obviously look odd. EGR cooler performance fluctuated but was consistently in the 90+% range with the lowest reading about...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Thanks for the info. Not sure what to do at this point but leaning towards replacing the EGR valve mainly because it locked up in the 97% open position for the last 30 minutes of a 90+ minute mixed traffic drive and most of the codes I have received are EGR valve related. Still stumped as to...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

OK- not sure if anyone is interested still but want to give an update. Got the truck back and seemed to run fine for about 800 miles no issues and no DTC. I have been monitoring the truck to see if/when codes come up even if they do not set a MIL. I noticed on the monitor that the EGR valve...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Ok, kind of back to square 1- shop ran through everything and came back with bad upper rad hose as the only issue. All else checked out fine. I will be picking it up tomorrow, (not able to get there today). I guess the issue is with the EGR but intermittent- they drove it 70+ miles and no issue...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

I am 95% sure it is a head gasket but I am not a mechanic. All the cake pointed to EGR but the obvious issue is with the coolant. The system was pressurized to the point that coolant was leaking from overflows and weeping from a few different areas because of the excessive pressure. I am hoping...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Agreed it is slim but not sure what more I could have done. Coolant level was always checked and kept up with- was changed at around 80k. Oil changes are done every 7500 fuel filters every 12-15k, not saying these other things have anything to do with it just to say that I am pretty meticulous...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Looks like it is a head gasket issue. Coolant is building pressure to the point it is pushing out from any place it can which is why the leak. Not sure why it through all those EGR codes though, may be additional trouble but looks like I was going down the wrong road. Unfortunately I do not have...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Thanks for the additional info. I will keep that in mind with the O-rings and grab a couple extras. Will likely do a pressure test but think I will pull the crossover tube to see if any coolant, (or effects of coolant), is visible inside the EGR cooler or pipe. I was looking at the Mishimoto Y...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Thanks- it is weeping there now but the visible dripping is back by the overflow bottle and EGR cooler

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Sorry, di not give the rest of the history. CCV has been changed twice- first and 65 second at 120 EGR system has not been done, (other than the valve), as it is not called for on the ‘13+ trucks since they went to DEF. When I pulled the EGR valve and pipe they had soot but it was a relatively...

    Multiple DTCs P0401, P0402, P0403 & P0405

Looking for some input. 2014 2500 Cummins 152k miles. Does not idle much highway driving mostly. Mostly unloaded just me in it. New trans 8k miles ago. Banks Monster Ram installed 2K miles ago. Was driving the truck a few weeks ago on the highway at about 70, felt a sputter and CEL kicked on...

Just installed the Monster Ram. Not for performance just to avoid the grid heater issue. Mine actually looked good when I took it out. Not sure it was ever going to be an issue but at least I know now it will not be.

    Mega cab 2500 air suspension

I have the first year air suspension 2500- It has been great, (140K miles on it). The ride is good loaded or unloaded but still know it is a 3/4 ton. I think the jump in price is worth it. My air suspension is a little slower to react than the new ones but I actually prefer that for loading and...

Most cost Effective/Safest 5th wheel. to Gooseneck

I also was a bit concerned on that but a couple things I looked at. The side plates are somewhere between 5/8” & 3/4”, (apologies, I am not near my trailer at the moment to confirm). The torsion rubber bushing to take some of the shock load so the hardware is not being as much as it is pushed...

Most cost Effective/Safest 5th wheel. to Gooseneck

For those interested in the doing the math, here is a schematic with dimensions on the Gen- Y coupler taken from their website. For reference, my trailer has a LCI 1621 frame and it is mounted on the highest mounting position on the chassis. When the trailer is hitched to the truck,(loaded)...

Most cost Effective/Safest 5th wheel. to Gooseneck

Not sure why the sarcasm but “Thanks” for the basic physics lesson. I understand basic physics- the difference with this setup, (and the Reese Goosebox- which is approved), it that the mount to the trailer the lessen the leverage angle. It will be more than the original Pinbox but not to the...

Most cost Effective/Safest 5th wheel. to Gooseneck

I know the frame warranty can b an issue but ultimately they are one 1 year warranties and they do all they can to get out of covering things anyway so I figured it is best to just get something that is comfortable for me. The Gen-Y is not what I would call an adapter, it replaced the entire...

Most cost Effective/Safest 5th wheel. to Gooseneck

I just got a new 5th wheel myself. I wanted to avoid the 5th wheel hitch because of all the room it takes and the weight. The Reese Goosebox was the way I was going until I saw the Gen-Y 5th to Goose conversion. It is similar to the Reese in that it replaces the pin box on the trailer and all...
