    Tuners

I can’t believe there’s this much talk about tuners and no one has mentioned the best one available for a 24 valve, the Quadzilla Adrenaline. It can function as a plug & play like an Edge, or at your option can be custom tuned as much as you like. No other tuner is as effective for dialing in...

    Headlights

Not cheap - but a good deal for what you get... here’s the good stuff: http://shop.retroshop.us/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=2G%2ERAM%2ERETRO

    47RE upgrade

You should also look into the Quadzilla Adrenaline tuner rather than the very-obsolete Smarty. I have a low-stall converter and I have mixed feelings about it. It makes the truck kind of a pain to drive when unloaded, it doesn’t want to stop. If you’re in heavy traffic you’re excessively...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Injector Upgrade?

If you have a Quadzilla and you are running the new "V2" software, the only way an Edge EZ is smoother or better in any way is if you haven't tuned it properly. All an EZ can do is bump the timing a preset amount and bump fueling a preset amount. A Quad can do that too if you want it to, or you...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Old style tow mirrors

Are you sure they're tightened up enough? Mine don't do that. You have to really crank 'em down.

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Fliptomirros

They must be loose if that's what's going on. Mine are tight and there's no drama with shutting the doors.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Injector Upgrade?

I used to run RV275s and an Edge EZ, it wasn't very powerful but EGT wasn't ever a problem.

They do, a small amount. It's not bad but it's not perfect.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Old style tow mirrors

Depends how close to Seattle you are. I just took a nice set off my truck so I could install 3rd-gen flip-out power and heated mirrors. Which is what you should do! I hated washing around all those brackets.

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Fliptomirros

I should also say - Genos is a great outfit, I once had a problem with an incorrect part shipped to me and their person who handles such things was on vacation, yet still answered my email and had the right stuff overnight-aired to me. For what that costs, they probably lost money on my...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Truck Camper weight

Camper "dry weight" is a meaningless and misleading number that you should never take as fact. In the real world, truck campers are generally 1000 pounds heavier. "Dry weight" doesn't just mean empty tanks (and you don't leave on a trip with empty tanks anyway!!) but no equipment - no battery...

12 valve in a half ton.

You know what, I think I'm mistaken, it appears there's an exemption for diesel fuel... FMVSS 393.67) 7.4.5. Fuel withdrawal fittings. Except for diesel fuel tanks, the fittings through which fuel is withdrawn from a fuel tank must be located above the normal level of fuel in the tank when the...

12 valve in a half ton.

I'm a hot rodder too and I like your truck a lot. I used to get my F150 that I swapped a very not-stock '68 428 into past its emissions test by running about 75% alcohol during the test. I've done lots of not-by-the-book engine swaps. I'm just mentioning this since the thread seems to recommend...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Injector Upgrade?

Bigger injectors aren't going to reduce your smoke. Getting rid of the Smarty and going to a Quadzilla Adrenaline will, because you can tune it out. I run 7x.010 "150 HP" injectors without being smokey because of the Quad's tuneability.

12 valve in a half ton.

I wouid recommend NOT using a sump for the fuel supply, they are illegal for good reasons. ALL vehicle fuel tanks are required to have all fuel lines running through the TOP of the tank. Look at any well-made race car and you'll see they are done that way too. The DrawStraw setup works great...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 1997 1 ton dually 4X4

The model-year break is "'1998.5". 1998 trucks were 12-valves, the "'98.5s" were 24-valves. The Holy Grail truck is a 1998 12-valve because it has the new-for-'98 opening rear doors on the quad cab but still has the ultra-reliable 12-valve motor. They're hard to find.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission For the 2nd gen 24 valve guys

I have one with stock tires and 4.10 gears, it turns 2000 rpm at 60 mph. (Until I hit the Gear Vendors OD which drops it to 1500!) $2000 will only buy a poor, stock trans rebuild. The auto trans is the worst part of these trucks... $4000 - $6000 will get you a solid, durable transmission that...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Fliptomirros

I bought the ones from 1A Auto. They were the only ones I could find that you can get in chrome (although it's really plastic). They're power, heated, and have LED lights on the front-side corners you can use as running lights (like new Fords) or turn signals. They plug right into the factory...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission air bags on 96 2500?

Yeah I removed the overloads and the brackets and everything to do with them. Part of that was because I have a Kelderman air ride kit on it, which replaces the rear spring shackles with a big hinged thing that has airbags... that doesn't do anything for load capacity it just takes the harsh out...
