Archived 98 12 valve needing help

the other suggestions are good, but with that amount of miles the start and die could very well be the bellcrank mechanism on the throttle/fuel plate, simpler terms would be throttle linkage components. my 97 12 valve had a recall on those parts, so may your 98. I have seen this problem numerous...

    265 to 285 tires

could anyone tell me what my speedometer difference is from 265 tires to 285's, I was supposed to have it calibrated but it isn't happening. I calculated percantage wise myself but I am not sure if I have it right. I went from stock michelins to 285 wrangler silent armors with 617 revs per mile.

question for people in the northeast

    A general question, although not 100% diesel related. Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) high mileage 47re's

I was wondering if it is possible to make these things last or is the bad rap legitimate. If you can make them last is it as simple as knowing how to use overdrive, maintaining the fluid, keeping shift points adjusted, cooling down in nuetral and just general paying attention.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) need part number

Looking for the part number for the oring on secondary fuel filter,(the one lower on the block with the screen it). It appears to be a standard flat cut oring, but cummins, dodge and multiple other places can't seem to help so I figured this would be the place?

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) considering 06 trade down to 96, advice

good discussions Thanks everyone for the varying and well thought out advice. There are a number of reasons I am thinking about doing this. To answer some question my 97 was a 4x4. Despite my constant wrenching in it I absolutely loved the truck. Just one of those things sometimes you bond with...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) considering 06 trade down to 96, advice

I was considering selling my 06, 6 speed and buying a 96-98 12 valve quad cab long box. Sounds crazy but I have this urge to live life a lot simpler. I had a 97 at one time and absolutley loved it. I was working on it just about every other day and rusted away after 6 years, but I liked it. My...

bigger tires, now down on power?

low power As a fleet mechanic I will say absolutely positively without a doubt you could have fuel filter issues. The bigger tires are not the problem. A fuel filter is an easy test to perform. also knowing your boost and if your holding boost in a low power situation is a must.

    G56 Poll

28,000 / 3 clutches; the problem seems to originate from the hydraulics. They don't adjust properly therefore frying the flywheel and clutch. The DMF setup is obviously least desirable, but it is smooth. Smoothest shifting gearbox I have ever driven. For those concerned with the aluminum case...

    Trouble spots with 3rd Gen's

where do i start with my 06' problems. AC compressor, air blows out the wrong vents, warped heater box/ broken door 3 times, all applicable tsb's, sliding rear window latch twice, vibration that only i can feel, the headlight issue is especially annoying if you have a snowplow, which I do. never...

    More Smarty Jr Questions

I'm on the fence with the smarty jr. also. I don't want to add rail pressure due to obvious hpcr injector issues. My main question I never seen an answer to is how does the tire size / speedometer function work and just what type of a scan tool is it. How much can you do with the scan portion?

Overdrive or Taller Gears for Fuel Savings

there has been a lot of discussion by various people about 3. 42's. They are available and it sounds like a few are ready to try it. Sounds like it will cost about 600 bucks. I will probably change mine in the future if this seems to be working. However if the 3. 42's cause a lack of power, in...
