    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 47re upgrade?

google search it a little, you'll find several places and lots of information. If you search this site a little, you'll find several threads that will tell you all you need to know.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Anyone use AIRBAGS on 2500 camper package???

My application is with a 5th wheel and the bags helped keep the truck level, like it should be. Yes, I did notice that the rear end seems to handle differently and jump a little more in the bumps, but it made the last trip a much nicer ride and keeps the front wheels on the ground liek they...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Air conditioning pressures

Best way to check for leaks is to pull it into vacuum as high as you can get, then seal it up and see if it holds the vacuum. If it will hold for 30 minutes without dropping, then you are pretty well sealed up. I had to double an o-ring on a truck once because the factory o-ring was 1-1/2...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Anyone use AIRBAGS on 2500 camper package???

My truck is lifted so the factory overloads never worked. I took them off and did my best to keep the articulation with the airbags. I wound up losing up-travel but I kept all my droop. Not perfect, but it works for today. One thing about the above pic. On my truck the springs flex enough that...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Air conditioning pressures

I try to keep mine at 34-36 on the low side, with temps about 80-90 with low humidity. It's easy to overcharge one when the temps are low. My old ramcharger let loose with the pressure relief valve the other day and I try not to overcharge it at all. No idea why it cut loose, but I guess I...

    Death by towing!

If I remember correctly, to flat tow a samurai, you are supposed to put the t-case in neutral and the trans in 4th gear. Wouldn't take much to knock that t-case into gear.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission off set ball joints with warrenty! where?

Mine goes from the inner C on each side, under the pumpkin, crossing the whole axle. The bend in mine is at the CAD, on the pumpkin side. From the right angle it looks crooked as heck. If you look at the front of the truck, it looks like the front axle is smiling and the tires look like crooked...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission off set ball joints with warrenty! where?

There are a lot of these trucks running around with bent housings. Plow trucks and trucks that have been jumped are the common ones. I can't remember the name of the company, but there on Ebay, they have a million mile warranty on their balljoints. I think they are a 3 letter name, but I can't...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission My mileage aint that great!!

Makes perfect sense. We took a trip to Kansas last summer. Running 70 I got 16. 8-17. 2 mpg, at 75 it was 16. 4-16. 7 mpg and at 84 it was 14. 7-15. 2 mpg. I've never been able to hold my speed to a constant 50-52 mph so I cannot say what it would get without aerodynamics involved. I can...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission off set ball joints with warrenty! where?

I had a truss installed on my 02 that came with a CAD axle. Figures, my luck, I buy the only 02 on the planet with an 01 CAD axle installed... . Anyway, I too have the inner edges of the tires wearing and everything is in spec, I suspect that the front axle has sagged on the CAD side, as the...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Need Bed Clearance for 5th Wheel

I hope you used steel blocks under the truck. The aluminum ones, unless they are solid billet or forged, will crack and break under the weight of that truck. I just had to replace the factory cast iron blocks under my truck after they mushroomed out, screwing up my pinion angle.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission My mileage aint that great!!

My mileage on my 02 4x4 with a 5" lift, 3. 55 gears and 255/85/16 Toyo's averages 15-17 on my trips around N. Nevada and to the bay area. Summer or winter doesn't matter any, same mpg. I have an Edge/attitude and drive it on 1, the MPG setting. Doesn't matter if I run it on 4 or 1, same mileage...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Busted parts.....

The yokes among almost all the Dodge 4wd trucks are the same as long as the series of joint is the same. I've seen 1/2 tons with the same yoke/front driveline that my 3/4 ton has. I got my last one at a local driveline supply place, they had it in stock. Common replacement when the centering...

    is this for real

Little tip for people. The state of nevada is all about charging money for anything it can. If they can wring an extra $100 out of 1,000 people a year, they just paid for more social programs and welfare. If you don't like it, I recommend you don't travel through this state or pay any money to...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Loaded Question: 4x4 mpg vs Lock Out hubs

I have my original unit bearings for spares, I throw one in the trailer in case I ever have a failure on a trip. I also check for play in the bearings every 5K at oil changes. I'm sure there have been failures that come out of nowhere, but I would hope a little warning would come before a...

    Gas powered trucks

Don't be afraid to shop out of state. Here in Nevada they are practically giving away 2010 trucks since we have the worst economy in the nation right now. I can think of worse ways to spend a weekend than a flight to Reno or Vegas then driving home in a brand new rig. The empty trip home would...

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Since were on the transmission thing! Dtt?

What you are describing has a couple potential causes. 1st. If your line pressure is too high, the trans can go into limp mode which causes the computer to freak out because the voltage is too high coming up to the computer, due to the pressure sensor in the trans voltage being out of whack...

    Gas powered trucks

Is there a specific reason you didn't look at the Chevy 6. 0? For reference, we have a 2500 4x4 longbed 4door at work with the 6. 0. It gets about 13 empty at 65 mph. Towing a 20ft snowmobile type enclosed V-nose trailer, it gets 9 or 10 mpg at 65-70. It's got plenty of power with the 6 speed...

    Gas powered trucks

I understand perfectly. Part of my problem in life is letting go of the past and accepting the payments that come with moving into the future. I'm sure that in a couple years things will be much better than they are today. Technology reinvents itself every 6 months or so, with that, I'm sure...

    Gas powered trucks

These are the things I'm talking about. Unfortunately, the newer diesels are not really optimal for the small time user. For a farm truck, I think they are going to lose the market share due specifically to the smog/regeneration issue. MPG when towing is going to be horrible with any gas...
