Makes perfect sense.
We took a trip to Kansas last summer. Running 70 I got 16. 8-17. 2 mpg, at 75 it was 16. 4-16. 7 mpg and at 84 it was 14. 7-15. 2 mpg.
I've never been able to hold my speed to a constant 50-52 mph so I cannot say what it would get without aerodynamics involved. I can tell you that a Ford Crown Vic will get 15-16 at 100-105 mph constant, so I think 14-17 is pretty good considering I am at least double the weight, at least double the height and double the frontal drag area.
