    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Speedo Re-calibration

I just went up to a 285-70-17 tire on my 98 12v and my speedo is off by about 5mph (according to the gps). I'm pretty sure the only 2 ways to fix this would be to buy a programmer or go to the dearlership. I was wondering if there is anyone in the middle-Georgia area that had a programmer I...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) NV4500 3rd gear grinding

    1. judging by the rest of the status of the truck when I purchased it it was probably the original castrol syntorque. 2. no. didnt grind when I bought it tho.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) NV4500 3rd gear grinding

I've heard good things about that fluid but it really isn't any cheaper for me to have it shipped to me and it is to go to the local dodge dealer and buy the castrol syntorque. any suggestions on where to get the parts I would need for this?

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) New Vacuum Pump Seals DONE!

how would I go about getting this kit (or any part for that matter) from cummins directly? I still haven't figured that out... I live in GA if that makes any difference.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) NV4500 3rd gear grinding

just changed the trans fluid with fresh castrol syntorque from the dodge dealer (~$90 in fluid) when I fixed 5th gear about a month ago.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) NV4500 3rd gear grinding

I have a 98 12v 4x4 with the NV4500 5spd. Recently, as I shift from 2-3, 3rd will grind really bad. If I baby it it will go in without grinding but I almost have to double-clutch to prevent the grind. None of the other gears have any problems as I have already fixed the notorious 5th gear with a...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Wheel Bearing

yes, the studs are pressed thru the rotor into the bearing. when you pull it off the axle they will come off together. a few taps with a hammer on each stud will knock them out.

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Wheel Bearing

just changed my right front monday. bought it from o'rielly for around $150. federal mogal (sp) part. hardest part of the swap was pressing the studs back in. loooooots of anti-sieze. (go ahead and buy a big tube).

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission AC not working?

how long has it been since your a/c has worked? if its been a while then you probably have a freon leak and like "ewcmr2" said the low pressure switch (due to the lack of freon) will keep your a/c clutch from engaging to prevent the compressor from burning up. my a/c is out too. i filled it up...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd gen seats in 2nd gen

my front seats are shot. I found a good deal on some good looking 3rd gen seats and was wondering if they will bolt in to my 1998? if not, what would be required to get them in there? anything more than a slight modification and I'll just pass on them. also, i have seen some post about 3rd...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Spool for Dana 60 front on 98?

you are NEVER supposed to engage your 4x4 on dry pavement. even if you are going in a straight line down the road it will still put strain on the driveline. no one can drive a perfectly straight line, gear ratios from front to rear are never exactly the same (3. 54/3. 55 etc). so the only down...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) coolant noise?

I thought I was the only one. the first time i heard it was late at night when leaving work the first "cold" day down here in GA this year. I thought when I flicked the lights on I would have a floor board full of coolant. Thankfully I didn't.

    De-Chroming 3rd Gen Alloys

thanks 13MWZ. thats kind of what i was afraid of tho. i dont think the heat will harm the aluminum but i guess i'll just have to be careful not to gouge the wheels while cleaning the glue off. do you think goof-off or something of the like would work without ruining the surface of the aluminum?

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Speaker

the front door speakers in 2nd gens are 6x9 "oval" speakers. not hard to find. any local audio shop will be able to get you a reasonable pair for $75-100 (all speakers come in pairs). you can also go to any bestbuy/circuit city type store and they will have them as well. Crutchfield: LCD TV, Car...

    Radio Died

my problem turned out to be an absent IOD fuse. the p/o apparently ripped off that plastic cover and never returned the fuse. I thought it was a spare fuse slot until PBJ2500CTD recommended I check fuse 12 "IOD". my owners manual said fuse 15 was the IOD but that is clearly one of the airbag...

    De-Chroming 3rd Gen Alloys

maybe half way. i'll have to look. I know they will come off I just want to see if anyone else has attempted this and what kind of adhesive they used and how to get that off without scaring the aluminum. I have a friend that did it with the "chrome" steelies when he used them for his jeep...

    De-Chroming 3rd Gen Alloys

nosir. this is what i am talking about: dodge refers to them as the "17" x 8. 0" Chrome Clad Aluminum Wheels" and if you look by the center hub opening you can see the difference in the chrome cover and the aluminum behind it. bump for ideas.

    De-Chroming 3rd Gen Alloys

I just picked up a set of the 3rd gen 17" alloy wheels for my 98. They have the stupid chrome cover on them. I was wondering 1. why chrysler thought it was a good idea to cover up a good looking wheel like that. and 2. how can i get the chrome covers off ? it would appear that the "covers"...
