Determined!
I resolve to install the goodies the wife bought for her 01 and quit whining about the fact I don't have any shelter or a solid surface to work on. And to start working on one of my trucks so I don't have to drive the Neon all the time.
Thanks to all the Cummins and Ram engineers for there time and answers. It's reassuring to those of us who stand behind the brand that you are interested in our opinions and questions.
Actually ... Thank you for a very in depth answer. It shows you take our questions seriously and we all appreciate that.
As a side note many of us could accept a reduction in GVWR and GCWR on an optional package that would increase economy. Durability on the other hand is a different subject.
3.07 gear
Ram Engineers Is there any hope for the return of the 3. 07 gear ratio or something similar? Perhaps a double overdrive or 2-speed rear with a load sensor to kick out under hauling conditions?
mileage???
Ram Engineers... . What is being done to increase the fuel mileage on these trucks. I know the trucks have had to get heavier to meet safety standards and have been overburdened with emissions and Dpf. But the big holdup for my new truck purchase is the awful economy of the newer...
Here is a related question... ... Where and how often do you get a torque wrench calibrated?
I have a Craftsman microtorque (25-250lb)clicker, that I have had for about 18 years. It only gets used a couple a times a year, but that is going to change soon. I have always kept it stored unloaded.
As I undertand it, caster would have little or no influence on economy since its effects would normally only be seen during turning. The same should apply to camber. Toe however should have a noticeable influence on mileage.
I may of course have it all wrong... any experts???
Hey. What about older model Caravan risers say up to about 92. As I recall the early ones used a similar looking seat with a shorter riser. I remember some of them even had a storage drawer under the seat.
I was going down the interstate in my old 66 Chevy C10, when it started a horrible bangin' and jumpin'. It turned out the carrier bearing bracket had broken off from rust. I found an old wire coat hanger under the seat and used it to wire the bearing back up. Unfortunately, the engine torque...
Recently had the exact same problem on our 01. After circling my tail for a while worried it was the pcm, it turned out to just be alternator failure. (Did not notice if you had an automatic, but electrical noise from our failing alternator made our convertor lock and unlock at about 45mph...
Check out risers for a Dodge fullsize van. They are made for a flat floor. I'm not sure about the mounting bolt spacing, but they would look stock and you can always drill new holes if needed.
You cannot exceed the GVWR and be legal for safety reasons. That applies everywhere.
The minimum guidelines for a CDL are Federal therefore universal, but your state could have tougher state guidelines.
But different states have different regs for registration. Some states apparently...
So I did some checking today to at least update for Alabama and here is what I found... .
For registration... .
WHEREAS, Act 2006-XXX allows pick-up trucks “used for person or agricultural use and which is not operated for commercial purposes” to be registered based on the gross weight of...
CI-4 spec Valvoline Premium Blue is still available under the name Premium Blue Classic. Unfortunatrely it must be bought in 5gal buckets or larger.
My local NAPA was supposed to be able to get it for me but, after 2 months wait I cancelled the order and went to Wal-mart SuperTech. So far it...
So this has been a point of interest for me for awhile. I have an aunt who pulls her 26' rv(might be 28') behind her F-350 single wheel 4x4. She was stopped for having standard plates on her truck by a trooper here in AL. So she went in and paid the bucks for commercial truck plates like the...

Special thanks to the TDR for printing Charles letter and pictures in issue 65. Words cannot express the grattitude of the entire family. To see Bill's memorial in print in a publication he loved so much was very emotional.
THANK YOU!!!
So, finally got the chance to take the alternator off and haul it 20 miles to get it tested. NAPA did not have the right plugs to test it(they have since ordered them).
It took 4 guys at the new O'Reilly to test it. Then they said it failed because the voltage regulator was bad. This led to...
