    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Front Crankshaft Oil Seal

The service tool you speak of: should have been included with the new seal. You can set the seal to any depth you like as long as the seal is riding on a fresh surface of the crank. The Cummins speedi-sleeve kit w/crank seal did not have the depth tool.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Voltage Regulator / Alternator question

Can not answer the pulley question, but voltage regulation is controlled by the computer. You would have to add external regulation.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) '95 problem still not resolved. HELP!

Change the fuel filter and overflow valve in the P7100.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) P7100 pump timing question.....HOW?

Can not say it enough, but make sure no oil residue is left on the gear or shaft. Also you can increase the torque from 145 to 175 ft/lb but don't exceed that.

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission A/C Sylonoid stuck?

You should be able to hear the blend door snap shut when the selector switch is turned to the "OFF" position.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Tach dropping out/CELs popping on???

I have never found a camshaft position sensor on a 12 valve. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't one.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Timing set rental?

I bought my Snap On timing tools several years ago. I would never rent them out. If the rentee was heavy handed or dropped the dial indicator, the rental fee would not cover the replacement $$. I've only loaned them out twice. Both times to trusted buddies (a Cat mech and a Case IH mech). Both...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Tach dropping out/CELs popping on???

Check the electrical connection for the engine speed sensor aka crankshaft sensor. It is located just above the harmonic balancer.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) SouthBend SDD3250 - Installed

Did you have to upgrade the factory master and slave? What is peddle effort like compare to stock? What is the shifting like? How hard or easy to upshift, same with downshifting? I really would like to know how it compares to a con ofe.

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Engine finally ran, but more questions and problems!

The engine will tell you want it wants, but deciphering the clues is open to interpretation. The fuel should be at a couple of the injectors. Enough to get it to start and run rough. All you can do is verify that there is fuel at the injectors. I read the first post and understand that it ran...

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Engine finally ran, but more questions and problems!

That truck was running before on the lift pump, correct? I would suspect that it has a lot of air in the fuel system. Have you bled it at the injectors?

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Finding Top Dead Center With Truck that has been torn apart!

Pull number one injector. Use a wire (coat hanger) to find tdc. Watch the valves as you rotate the motor over.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 12V in Chevy

The stock 12 valve lift pump is very reliable. The return line is needed.

    8.2 Detroit Governor problem

There is almost no support for a 8. 2. I do not have a single shop in my area that is proficient on that engine, nor do they want to be. I found the problem. It is sticking in the throttle cable. Thanks for the replies and chuckles.

    8.2 Detroit Governor problem

Anyone know how to free up a sticking governor on a 8. 2 liter Detroit? Will only stick when you back off the throttle from 30 to 40 mph. Doesn't stick accelerating, only decelerating.

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Need to Get My Lifters Out!

Lots of info posted on changing a camshaft. Some highlights are: remove lift pump usually you use 1/2" wooden dowels driven into the tappet to lift them off the camshaft, but if yours are damaged, a magnet should work. You'll need 12 in total. you need a trough (exhaust pipe) to remove...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) P7100 Fuel Flow

If there is fuel getting to injection pump and the shut off lever works, I'd investigate the gear case. You can remove the oil fill tube and verify inj pump gear operation. If that checks out, it might be needing pump work.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) What do I need to know about changing a camshaft?

Cam install kit: Miller #8502 Snap-On Timing kit: #SP500 I like to find #1 top dead center before pulling the cam.
