Auto Computer Exchange.com.... Buyer Beware

Anyone know how to free up a sticking governor on a 8. 2 liter Detroit? Will only stick when you back off the throttle from 30 to 40 mph. Doesn't stick accelerating, only decelerating.

Sounds more like the injector rack is sticking, one injector is holding the other three open on one bank or the other.

You want to be getting it checked out quickly, although I think the 8. 2L engines had a spring loaded rack so they are not able to run away when an injector sticks.

Anybody up there that will still work on them???

Also very important, is the sticker still on the valve cover that shows the injector height settings for each injector??? That makes it a lot easier to set it back up after the injector is changed.

I sure that there are some other 8. 2L veterans that will chime in as the day goes on.

Not one of GM's better efforts, for sure.

Had them in school buses and beverage trucks for the most part up here. Have tangled with them in Gensets as well.

As Bill says, a lot of people will not touch them.

There is almost no support for a 8. 2. I do not have a single shop in my area that is proficient on that engine, nor do they want to be. I found the problem. It is sticking in the throttle cable. Thanks for the replies and chuckles.

That is great, you lucked out on that one.
