    New whats this for?

I don't blame you a bit. (no pun intended). Looking at the shape reminds me of a clincher used to push over the end of a shoe nail that protrudes from the hoof wall. But the ones I have used were narrower, with ridges to grip the nails. Enjoy the "what's this for" even if I'm wrong which seems...

    New whats this for?

Big; really enjoy your posts! My guess would be a type of TWITCH for occupying the mind of an animal when you're trying not to get bit or kicked by the "patient" you're trying to shear or shoe. Thanks again for all of the mule and mountain scenery. GV

    Just joined the 2012 crowd!!

You are very welcome Joe. After all, our worst day camping is better than our best day working; right? Let us know how the truck handles your trailer. My Airstream is a 34 footer but not much of a load at about 9K. We do have a few "hills" to pull around here, but nothing like the members in...

    Just joined the 2012 crowd!!

Congratulations Joe! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. I picked it up last week. Very impressed with the max tow package and power. This truck has the best fit and finish of any of the duallys I have owned. Going to hook up to my Airstream in about three weeks for a shakedown cruise...

    New truck arrived yesterday

Yeah, well I'll try to rectify that next week. Been too busy either working to put stuff on the truck or working to pay for the truck. It's white with the gold rockers and looks pretty nice to me. I'll post some as soon as I get a chance. Thanks. GV

    New truck arrived yesterday

Hello folks, picked up my new truck at the dealer's and so far REALLY good! I was surprised at how much had changed since I purchased my 2008. It's a 3500 Laramie Longhorn, dually with the new auto trans. I'll be posting soon on how it pulls my old Airstream, but I am really impressed with...

    seat belt chime

You can ask your dealer for a seat belt extender (for us larger folks) and if you insert it into the seat belt receptacle, the truck thinks your seat belt is on. Voila! No more chime. Most dealers will give you one at no charge. GV

    New truck got here

More good news; received an email notice that the new truck has been built and started the shipping process. Two weeks they say (probably more than that). I'll have the time to put some miles on unloaded before a camping trip pulling my Airstream in late April. Can't wait to see how it...

    New truck got here

Congratulations on your new ride Okie! I also ordered a 2012 Laramie with the max tow package. It will be the first truck I owned without a manual transmission. I guess even old dogs can learn new tricks (sometimes). Thanks to all you guys like Harvey, RonD, yourself and others whose...

Dyno feeler in Sw Pa 1 mile off of I-70 exit 39

Matt, as a fellow Western PA resident, I am sure interested. I get down that way regularly. Not sure where you are exactly, but if you can post or PM some directions, I'll fall off the mountain and come visit, food or not. Thanks. Gary

Cool story about an old lady and her Comet

Steve, thanks for a great story. Goes to show you should not always listen to "conventional wisdom" offered by a lot of folks. Although seniors have challenges, I would sometimes rather be on the road with an 80 year old than some of the kids texting and on their cell phones while driving. My...

    Gas Grill Recommendations

Gary, sorry, hit the post command accidently. I also have fed a bunch of Scouts over the years. I like cooking over a wood fire whether it's foil packs, barbeque or a dutch oven meal but for sheer convenience; as in the case of "where's breakfast?" you cannot beat a propane stove for speed. Good...

    Gas Grill Recommendations

Gary, I could not agree more about cast iron. I was laughing while I read your reply as yes; I have the discontinued 20 skillet too. Great minds think alike regards Heavy Duty manly cookware! Here's the link: Camp Stoves, Smokers & Dutch Ovens By Camp Chef - Camp Chef

    Gas Grill Recommendations

Hello GCroyle, like some of the threads above, I love to cook with fire, charcoal AND propane. Having a large collection of HEAVY cast iron Lodge cookware, I ended up buying a Camp Chef triple burner stove. What makes this work well for me is I can grill on thier barbeque box on two of the...

    Touring Kentucky - Need advice

Kentucky is a great state with an endless variety of family oriented activites. When my kids were young, we visited the land between the lakes, the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, the quilting museum in Paducah and for good measure the Air Force Museum near...

3.42 or 3.73, What is your opinion???

Everyone has to make a decision based on their usage alone. In my case, I had a 99 six speed with 3. 54's towing a 9K Airstream and various flatbed loads around 12K or so with no problems. I now have an 08 six speed with 3. 73's. To me, 3. 73's are a good compromise for mileage and power as I...
