It took seven weeks but It was worth the wait.

Rides a lot smoother than the 06. The engine is quiet and the 4. 10 rear end is awsome. Got the hitch on Friday and went to the ranch Saturday am. 220 miles one-way. Got a load of feed to put in the deer feeders and headed home Sunday am. Drove different speeds but didn't baby the truck. The steeper the hill to climb I just gave it more fuel to work the engine. Worked out good now at 550 miles I need to put it to work pulling the 32 ft gn. I even the wifey drive a bit. Can't wait to try out the power.

Okie

Hope you like as much as we like ours. Like you said the ride is real nice. I am satisfied with the power. Just got into Tucson from Camp Verde pulling our M/S against a strong wind. I could stay with traffic quite nicely with out having it maxed out. Cab is very quiet. Only small dislike is it really likes fuel, but after my 03 a little extra fuel is a small cost factor in the overall part of operating a truck.

Congratulations on your new ride Okie! I also ordered a 2012 Laramie with the max tow package. It will be the first truck I owned without a manual transmission.

I guess even old dogs can learn new tricks (sometimes).

Thanks to all you guys like Harvey, RonD, yourself and others whose comments on the new 6 sp auto made my decision somewhat easier. And of course Geno's for good support and the "stuff" waiting to go on the new truck.

I don't post much as you can see, but this is a great site and source of information on a damn good truck. Thanks.

you had to take some pics of it at the ranch , let's see them . congratulations on the new truck . One day , maybe when mine is wore out .

More good news; received an email notice that the new truck has been built and started the shipping process. Two weeks they say (probably more than that). I'll have the time to put some miles on unloaded before a camping trip pulling my Airstream in late April.

Can't wait to see how it performs.

Has anyone used the factory cold weather front cover much and did you notice any difference?

Thanks

GV

Ok, I have it it a week so far. (2400 miles) Pulled a 32ft tandom dual gooseneck with 3500lbs on it. Coolant temp avg was about 201-203. transmission was was in the 192 range. After I unloaded the coolant was about the same and the transmission temp came down to about 178. Out side temp was in the 60'S.

Satisfied so far and even reached for the stick shift a couple of times to gear down. The brake set up worked fine and loved the sirus radio. Was nice having a radio station to keep me company. Fuel was avg about 10-12 mpg with close to 300-325 miles to a tank. I drove 80 at times and 65at times with realy giving it fuel up a hill to work the engine real hard. Will change the oil Monday am and swap out the General tires for a set of Michelins and put the Centramatics on

Don't know what I was expecting for power but was fine with this load. When I put 15-16k on the trailer I will have a better idea of the power.

Okie

I am getting ready to ordera 2012 3500 Crew Cab Laramie Dually with the Max Tow Package but when I spec'd it on the Ram site the Max Tow package now only lists the dual trans cooler. I contacted the sales department at the dealer I plan to order from and they said the Max Tow can now be ordered with any of the other ratio's. It no longer automatically gives you the 4. 10 ratio..... you have to order it for $50 more on top of the Max Tow Package. Looks like there is a lot of mistakes on that site when you compare packages the Laramie Limited and Longhorn both state the included entertainment package is the 430N instead of the 730N. Wish I knew where to get an honest answer. I am plan to upgrade my 5th wheel to a Hitchhiker or Mobile Suites 5th wheel so definitely want the Max Tow with the 4. 10.

Dodge/Rams website has been notorious for years as far as selecting options and configuring a truck and the errors associated with it.

It was in 00 when I ordered my 01, and in 05 when i ordered my 05. I am sure it will still be when I order my next truck in 13,14...
