    Better RV Brands?

Hi Karl. My wife and I just recently bought a '16 Redwood 38RE 5th wheel for full-timing here in Arlington, TX. Our previous Heartland Bighorn 35RL can't compare. That was an okay "camping" RV but the Redwood is definitely a full timer's coach. We're already hitting sub freezing temps (<32 F)...

Does it really have to be this hard?

I need to add transmission fluid to my 2005 G56 transmission, what size allen wrench do I need? 10mm or 14mm? Thanks for your help. Mark

    my buddy

Gregg, Sorry to hear about your family's 4-legged friend. It sounds like you're doing everything possible for her comfort. As all of us here know, it's tough to let your family members go. When she looked at you and wasn't smiling, I think she was telling you in her own way that it's time to...

    Should i buy a 03-07 5.9 or 08 6.7

Are those mpg's via the overhead computer readout or done old school; miles / gallons = mpg (hand or calculator)? I have an '05 2wd 5. 9L w/G56 QC short bed and continuously get 21-22 mpg calculated. I once drove from Vegas to S. Ca, drove around, then back on the same tank; 697 miles and 22+...

    RV tire balancing

I don't want to beat a dead horse here but your trailer will track better behind your truck and extend life of tires. It doesn't matter if they're drum or disc. Go to Discount Tire and they'll do it for $25 for all 4 tires.

    2500 vs 3500 questions????

tpms? I've seen 2012 3500's at the Dodge dealer without the extra springs? And I double looked to make sure I was looking at a "3500" decal?? Go figure?? Mark

Poor drivability; 2011 Manual with 3.42 Gears

Did they print out a "build sheet" on your truck? This will show if it's a 3. 42 rear end. I had a '97 auto with 3. 52 and it was a dog pulling a 6K trailer in the hills. My '05 has 3. 73 with the early G56 and it pulls like I have 4. 10's which is about right when you take rear end and transmission...

ex-wife is going to gay rallys

Well who would have thought she's a carpet muncher? The closet can hide a lot of things. Did you see the Seinfield episode where George's female friend went gay? He thought it was possibly his male inadequacies of course and he was second guessing himself through the show, funny episode. Life is...

    Volkswagen TDI - Seeking Information

Hi Harvey, We have a 2006 Jetta TDI w/DSG 6spd auto xmission, leatherette seating(looks like leather and easier to clean), and with 110K miles. Mileage ranges from 34-46mpg pending on trips. Maintenance items like filters, etc are a little higher than Jap products but I think this little 1...

    Illegal Immigrants

We're screwed: Democrats love them for votes and Republicans love them for keeping wages low. Can't trust either party with this issue. Mark

Gentlemen, besides installing the new Firestone Ride Rites in my '05 2500 3/4 QC shtbd, G56, do you recommend new shocks? and if so, what type? thxs Mark

Terrible crash at Reno Air Races

Are you a pilot? What is your education in aviation? Experience flying, etc? The whole horizontal stabilizer is "lift", the trim tab is used for trimming flight controls to take excess force off the control stick or wheel. Stay with something you know like diesel trucks. Mark

Terrible crash at Reno Air Races

You are wrong, sorry. The trim tab is a "finesse" flight control, and used to "trim" the flight path. The horizontal stabilizer is the main flight control for pitch. The trim tab sets the flight path of the airplane to eleviate forces on the control surface. Mark

Terrible crash at Reno Air Races

The missing trim tab didn't cause this accident. Sure it's missing but some planes don't even have trim tabs. The trim tab is used to "trim" the airplane's flight path; level, up, or down. When he's going 400 knots, and in a circuit, I doubt he's trimming the airplane's flight path. Something...

    Breaking news! on the Cummins.

Ignorant youth, you have to love them... NOT! When I test drove the new 2011 2500 2w/d 800 H/O auto the other day, the salesman said that Ford owns 10% of Cummins and they let Dodge sell the Cummins in their trucks. I didn't correct him but probably should have. I wasn't going to buy and if it...

Terrible crash at Reno Air Races

My condolences to the pilot and his family and the victims on the ground. The pilot was 74 and had to have had an FAA physical to fly, regardless of what airplane he was flying. For the missing "elevator trim-tab" missing off the horizontal stabilizer, I don't think this was serious enough for a...

2011 Ram 2500/3500 High Output pickups announced

Just drove the new '11 2500 mega cab 2wd 800 H/O with 6-spd auto of course. Like it's been said here, can't get the G56 in the H/O, too bad. But what a sweet ride this rig was. On sale for $42K. I'll keep my '05 2500 2wd qc G56 for awhile, it's almost paid off. Mark

So I Went and Test Drove a 4Th Gen...

Went in for my oil change on my (bought used) 2005 3/4 ton 2wd QC 3. 73 G56 transmission with 81K, and while I waited, drove the new '11 2wd mega cab 2500 w/ the "800" torque monster in it. What a sweet ride, all the bells & whistles except the DVD in the back cab. It was the Laramie Longhorn edition...

    Better RV Brands?

Check out the Heartland Bighorns. They're 2nd from the top of the line 5ers from Heartland. For the most part, nothing but positive feedback from owners on the Heartland forum, much like here with TDR. Remember, rv manufacturers set the "build" criteria for their coaches from the vendors. The...
