    T-51 service wish me luck

Got a call from the dealer yesterday. Parts are in for both recalls (51 and 79). Appointment on Saturday.

    2017 oil change

Yes. Considering that most of us shade tree mechanics can change the oil and all three filters (without a lift) in about an hour or less. I'd think that a $250 to $280 all in price would be fair to have it done by a dealer......

    Def Delete Kit

Sold my deleted 2012 to a dealer. Told them I would get it back to stock, they told me not to bother......went over what was done with the head tech and handed them over a box of parts. Truck was deleted with sims only.

    New to us 2012

The only thing that disappointed me about my 12 was the poor fuel economy and the short oil change intervals. There are some emission present tuners out there that can bump up the MPG a tad. While I ran deleted, a co-worker of mine has a 2012 long bed and runs a Smarty emissions present tune...

    Def Delete Kit

Scania also makes a non-egr engine. I hear that DEF consumption on these units is pretty high.

    Def Delete Kit

Various manufacturers have talked about better atomization of diesel fuel to achieve cleaner emissions. The finer the fuel spray the better the efficiency of the combustion process and the associated formation of pollutants. Insufficient atomization limits the evaporation process in the engine...

Traded in 2012 CCSB for 2016 CCSB

Traded my deleted 2012 CCSB with 54K in for a new 2016 CCSB. MSRP was $62,500. Got it for just under $49,000. First tank of fuel was about 50/50 mixed driving and I'm averaging about 18.8 mpg - Need to put some fancier shoes on her....

    New to me 2012 3500

Mine was trouble free for 54K - except for the pinion yoke seals. Got close to $34K on a trade for a 2016 CCSB 2500 BigHorn. I've only seen the 3rd gen 6.7s pull down decent mileage if the are deleted. Or if they are going down hill with a tailwind.

    New to me 2012 3500

The pre SCR 4th gens are rough on diesel consumption. My 2012 got 13 mpg avg. pre deletes, about 15 post. Towing I was lucky to get 11 MPG. The early 4th gens are known for their pinion seal leaks. I went through 2 in 54K miles.

    Massive emission trouble for VW.

Yours also has the shrapnel spewing HPFP issue. We had a 2012 JSW TDI. I now do everything I can to try to steer people away from these cars. In two years of ownership we had the HPFP fail twice (luckily covered under warranty $8K a pop), a cracked DPF and ongoing issues with condensation in...

    Another big safety recall?

It's getting hard to keep track of all these recalls...and it's frustrating to find out that they still are issuing recalls notices when they aren't prepared to do the work. Dealer said that the 2014s are up to nine (9) recalls.....I didn't bother to check if she was right or not. Still...

    Fuel filter change

I actually change the fuel filter every other oil change. It only takes about 15 minutes. I figure for the cost of the filter, it's cheap insurance. My truck is a 2012, however, which means I have only one filter to deal with.....

    Another big safety recall?

From the recall notice: THE STEERING WHEEL WIRE HARNESS WILL BE INSPECTED, AND IF NEEDED REPAIRED. THE STEERING WHEEL WIRE HARNESS WILL BE REROUTED AND SECURED TO PREVENT WIRE CHAFFING AND PROTECTIVE CAPS WILL BE INSTALLED ONTO THE AIRBAG RETAINER SPRING ENDS. They need to install these...

    Another big safety recall?

I actually got the recall notice on wednesday. Took my truck down to have the front pinion seal fixed under warranty today and asked them to perform the airbag recall work as well. Was told they have yet to see the parts necessary to perform the recall.
