    Used TT Recommendations

If you are handy, look at a clean vintage (late 90s and prior) Holiday Rambler Alumalite. My 1996 27 footer is rock solid trailer featuring an aluminum roof, aluminum framing, aluminum exterior walls, front and rear fiberglass caps, a solid fiberglass shower (most showers are plastic) and a...

    Exhaust Brake inop

If not already, try unplugging the EGR valve. For reasons unknown, there have been many reports of the EB not working properly with certain tuners if the EGR wiring is not disconnected

    I've decided to delete

As another pre-def 2012 owner, I would be curious on how you like the RaceMe and how much of an improvement in fuel economy you see. Keep us updated.

    Brakes billowing smoke

I did replace both calipers as suggested. They aren't too expensive and not that hard to replace. All is good now and the brakes are working great.

    Brakes billowing smoke

I hadn't driven my truck for a few weeks and drove 7 miles into town and saw black smoke billowing out from the drivers side wheel area when I stopped. I have an infrared temp scanner I keep in the truck and the rotor was 800F! I let it cool and limped it home and I found the caliper pistons had...

Need advice on EGR reinstallation to pass inspection

As you probably know, these early emissions were problematic and caused poor fuel economy which is why they are commonly deleted. People often sell the removed parts on Craigslist or Ebay. Also make sure the EGR wasn't just unplugged instead of removed. Many people would just unplug the EGR...

    Yet another letdown

Mine 2012 rotted and broke in the same spot last year. The rest looks fine. I fixed the break with a 4" coupler and it has been good since. Also take a close look at your oil pan. I had to sand off the rust and pitting and paint mine.

Would like to buy a used 2500 Diesel

The brake controller is/was an option on the base trim trucks. I had the dealer add it to my 2012 ST. I think it was pretty easy to do and cost a few hundred dollars.

Would like to buy a used 2500 Diesel

I have a 2012. You are correct that the 12 does not need DEF. For most owners, adding DEF seems to be a non issue. Although not too likely, be aware a DEF system malfunction could you into limp mode per EPA mandates. Mileage will be worse and routine maintenance more on a 12 than a 2013 unless...

how long will a 68RFE last

Not even close to the record! This was posted last year by TDR forum member Guillorytransport ... "Just thought I'd post that my 2012 has 612k miles on it. Just replaced original 68RFE transmission with a mopar reman today. I hall cars (25k lbs combined) all day everyday for last 3 years...

    EGR unplug without tuner

I have had the EGR unplugged for 2 years. It gives a nice increase in mpg and continues to regen the DPF normally without issue. To turn off the regens you will need a delete tuner and remove the DPF. Just search deleting and you will find countless threads especially on Cumminsforums.com...

    dometic fridge repair

I looked at the Amish kit you mentioned and as a longtime refrigeration mechanic and RV owner I find the concept of just replacing the sealed ammonia system quite interesting. If you do go ahead with it I would really like to hear how it turns out.

Looking to have a full delete done in my area ?

It sounds like maybe your mind is made up, but I would leave it alone. I doubt you will gain much in power or mileage and I am sure you know you will lose your warranty. I would just enjoy it how it is. I know that sounds boring but to mess with such a nice, new vehicle that is working good...

    Considering an RV purchase

    Very well said!

    Considering an RV purchase

Your 2500 will easily tow the vast majority of travel trailers out there so I wouldn't worry about that. Mid-winter is the time when all the big RV shows are happening and they are a great place to look at a hundred trailers in one location without much sales pressure. As was mentioned, think...

New owner of a 2012, new to diesel.

Welcome to the forum. I also have a 2012 and can tell you what I know. I turn the exhaust brake on each time I drive. People say it is good for the turbo. As far as deletes go, lots of people do delete the 2007 to 2012 trucks which are the pre-DEF models. I personally unplugged the EGR valve...

    First RV Tow....Felt heavy....

Congrats on the new Arctic Fox. They make a quality trailer but that comes with the heavy weight. Travel trailers are very subjective to both cross and headwinds making them feel harder to tow. Some minor sway is common but there are few things you can do to reduce more serious sway. Make sure...

    Water pump blew up

I carry a spare water pump and belt under the back seat. Cheap insurance and you could actually change them on the side of the road if you had to.

    2011 exhaust brake questions

I believe it only works when the engine rpms are over 1100. The brake loses effectiveness as the rpms drop and the computer uses 1100 rpms as the turn off point.
