Upgrading wheels on 2004 Third Gen

Mine are wearing 275 70s with no issue, and had 285 75s before with no rub. 315s I think will still be good, but I have offset control arms just in case. I think any AT will work. MTs have bigger shoulder lugs that might cause issues. I think you’ll be fine man, up to 35s at least.

Upgrading wheels on 2004 Third Gen

I have the stock chrome steel 18” rims off a 2018 on my 2003. They fit and work just fine. If there’s an offset difference from the 17s, I can’t tell by looking.

    Tailpipe

AND found out the hardway that most stock replacement tailpipes dont open back up to 4”, so I wasnt able to reuse my tip.

    Tailpipe

03 -04.5 is 4” turbo outlet, elbow necks down to 3.5, stays 3.5 to muffler outlet, and tailpipe opens back up to 4” just after the flange from the muffler. weird design.

    Fatbobs 3” leveling pucks

Had no issues with these, they are well made and come with the hardware to bolt them to the shock tower. Drove on them for over 80k miles. $50 plus shipping from 03811

Top Gun Customz 1/2” over control arms

Installed for only a few months. Thought the bushings went bad so replaced them with metalcloak, but when I pulled them they looked fine. Turns out my issue was a ball joint. I installed some better zerks. $100 plus shipping from 03811

These have 255k on them, but no sag or any other issues. Great if you want to return your truck to stock, or if yours are beat and you don’t want to pay full price for new springs. I installed thurens and don’t need these laying around. $75 plus shipping. Located at 03811

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

Unless there’s play somewhere that changes geometry. I originally had it aligned to thuren specs by a an old optical alignment guy. Had no issues with it for a while until this last debaucle. Wish I would have measured before I changed the control arms and springs, but whatever. I do tape...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

Well after 450+ miles, the death wobble seems cured. Still not sure if the ball joints helped, or if I just nailed the alignment, but it for sure rides much better than it ever used to. After hitting a large pot hole, there still seems to be some DW like vibration that tapers off real quickly...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

It took me years to justify buying a cordless impact. Kobalt had a sale on theirs two years ago for like $100 or so. Honestly don’t know how I ever lived without it. The battery lasts forever and it’s way more effective than my ingersoll pneumatic. It stays in my truck and I even used it today...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

Oh man thanks for clearing that up!! Yeah there’s a few parts during this journey that I would have preferred a different brand. My original Y style set had 250k+ on it, and was definitely worn out, but still impressive that it lasted that long before developing problems. Unfortunately only...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

Hey so I put in the new ball joints. Old ones seemed fine, but it’s worth a shot anyway. Ran into something weird, can someone confirm something for me? The t steering upgrade is the moot kit. The passenger side tie rod end stud moves left and right, but not forward and backward. It spins like...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

Here’s a vid I took this afternoon after I reinstalled the track bar. I noticed a slight click in the steering box which is why you see me keep going back to the pitman arm, but that doesn’t explain the death wobble. Y’all see anything else out of the ordinary from it? oh don’t mind mind the...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

A bit to unpack on this post. Before my coils and arms arrived, the truck developed full blown death wobble. Figured it was the control arms throwing the suspension geometry out of whack, I just avoided the highways and limped the truck back and forth to work. Last Monday I was able to install...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

Mine was definitely the tires. New ones solved the shake. I still get a very minor driveline vibration above 70mph, but I know it’s either the front DS CV, xfer case output, or pinion flange. It’s not enough to chase. I installed a new pinion seal and rebuilt the xfer case last year, as well as...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

Between copious antiseize (the marine grade stuff) and fluid film every year, I’ve not had too much of an issue working under the trucks. When I did my ball joints though, what a PIA. The fit is too tight for any meaningful antisieze or high film strength grease. Only way to go is using the...

    Need help diagnosing vibration 60-75mph

You know I sent TGC an email asking about their bushing dimensions so I could just order some from synergy, but I didn’t hear boo from them. Was going to maybe pull the arms and measure the bushings myself, but said screw it. Just get better arms and maybe recoupe a little money on the old parts.
