to the best of my knowledge the system is a closed loop and the bags bleed off to a tank the compressor fills from the same tank. if the tank pressure is low you will get a fault.

if it happen only on cold nights i'll bet your pressure is on the low side and just requires a nitrogen fill.

sounds like you may have air in the system. Did you cycle the system to get enough air our with the self bleeding system.

check your differential oil level and that will tell you the possible extent of damage to the bearings. better to fix it sooner that later.
